4.0 out of 5 stars A Lost Prog Treasure, February 9, 2011
This review is from: Baby Grandmothers (MP3 Download)
A very underrated album from a shortlived Swedish prog/psychedelic trio. The lineup consisted of Pelle Ekman (drums), Göran Malmberg (bass), and Bengt 'Bella' Linnarsson (guitar). They only recorded one single ('Somebody Keeps Calling My Name / Being is More Than Life,' both included here), and most notably supported The Jimi Hendrix Experience on their Scandinavian tour in 1967-1968. They would eventually morph into a reunited version of the Mecki Mark Men, but they left their imprint with the pieces that are packaged together on this minor masterpiece of experimentation. Sure, the last couple of tracks are padding, but if you enjoy the long jams of early Dead and/or the heavy, improvisational sound of German prog artists like Agitation Free or Ash Ra Tempel, there's a good chance this will be to your tastes.

This is one of those great finds from the past you always hope you'll discover. A little psychedelic with some creative rock rhythms. The vocals are on a scale from moodily quiet to nearly painful howls that all blend together. I liked this album right away.
