(REAL NAME)
Being patient and methodical, my wife and I shopped far and wide for the optimal double stroller, and tested many. This City Mini stroller was the clear choice. We then used it at the best test site going, ten full days at Walt Disney World parks. Here are the pluses; The stroller folds remarkably easily, pull one openly available strap in the seats, and bingo, done, folded nearly flat. Further, you can very easily release and remove the wheels, and then the stroller folds virtually totally flat. This stroller is not heavy like most doubles, yet it is built quite solidly. It pushes and turns at a feathers touch. From a standing point, you can make a 180 degree turn smoothely, with no resistance. The wheels are big enough for a smoothe ride, but not so big that they get in the way, especially when folding the stroller. The seats recline very simply, and the versatile hood provides as much sun block as desired. It also can create a very secure protected space for kids to lounge in. And the seats are set, that it is difficult for the kids to truly bother each other. Get the safety bar accessory, kids love it, and it reduces the need to buckle them in every time you put them in the stroller. There's also a three cup holder accessory that's useful. There is only ONE flaw with this stroller, the storage under the seat is difficult to access. It was too small in the older units, but they recently fixed that. Yet, while it may be bigger, and is a reasonable amount of space, the frame structure of the stroller leaves only narrow openings to get stuff into the storage area. So, you cant store large bags down there, you have to use small bags, and or store stuff loose. We found one resolve, is to hang stuff off the handle bar with a huge quick link ("mommy clip"), even though the manufacturer says not to do this. Oh ya, if you actually want to jog with a stroller, then get the City Elite, which is significantly heavier, and doesn't fold so well, but the wheels are much bigger, allowing you to truly jog. So there you have it. All said and done, this stroller is THE number one best you can find. Expensive, but worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for neighborhood walks, September 17, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
After doing weeks of research and finally debating between this and the BOB Duallie, with some consideration of the Schwinn Free Wheeler, I finally picked this stroller and could not be happier with it. There is no perfect stroller to fit all needs, but if your needs are a flexible stroller suitable for neighborhood/zoo/mall walks, featuring easy portability, then this will pretty much be the perfect stroller. My kids are 22 months (30 pounds) and 6 weeks (12 pounds), and we've used it every day for the last month.

First, it came in a box only about 5 inches deep (!) and even with the wheels, it really doesn't fold much wider than that. This cuts down on bulkiness. It is incredibly easy to collapse and lift up, weighing less than my toddler, and fits easily into the trunk of my midsize sedan. It only took about 15 minutes to get everything fastened and attached.

Main things I love: You really can push and steer it with one hand, even with two kids (of uneven or even weight; I've pushed it with two 30-pound kids in it) or just one kid in it -- great weight balance. The separate sunshades are nice to be able to adjust for different kids' needs and have plastic windows you can open and close to keep an eye on the kids. You don't need to purchase a separate car seat holder/adapter if you don't want to, since the seats can lay almost flat and accommodate a newborn. I've had my six-week-old in there since he was two weeks old and he fits great. The seat recline feature is extremely easy to use and I like that it has open mesh in the back for air flow, which is important since the summer's been hot, but it does have a cover you can pull down if it's colder. The restraint straps work fine and are easy enough to tighten/adjust, and can be adjusted for different heights. I like the pockets behind the seats (for toys, etc.) and underneath -- we've managed to get a half-gallon of milk and other small items (sunscreen, etc.) in there fine, although these won't fit when you collapse the stroller. The stroller is extremely narrow for a double, and fits through mall and convenience store doors fine, and even store aisles. My husband is 6'1" and has no problems kicking the cross bar when he pushes it, so it works for taller parents. Finally, the stroller handles regular sidewalk bumps, and even some grass, gravel, and dirt paths, well even though they aren't air-filled tires.

Cons: For the price, it ought to come with a cup/key/phone holder. I had to buy one separately. Also, it is true that you can't get a full diaper bag into the pouch underneath the stroller, but if you just keep a separate small pack of diapers and wipes they would fit. Finally, depending on your perspective: As others have noted, it is NOT a jogging stroller even though the front wheels can be locked, but for myself I figured that I would not actually use it for jogging, just walks, and I valued the light weight and narrowness over larger wheels. This stroller is pricey, but has already been worth it by how heavily we use it -- SO happy we went with it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great double stroller, December 26, 2009

This review is from: Baby Jogger 2010 City Mini Double Stroller, Black/Black (Baby Product)
I've only had it a couple of weeks but I am loving this stroller. For a double it is relatively small. It is quite maneuverable. I was able to push both of my girls in it through the mall with one hand. It's easy to fold up. Exactly what I was looking for. Note: don't expect this stroller to be a jogger. It is not.

2.0 out of 5 stars HORRIBLE HARNESS, March 29, 2010
We purchased this stroller for our twins, who are now 10 months old. Initially, when they were too small to sit up, the stroller seats were reclined and we didn't have to strap them in with the harness because they didn't move around. So, we didn't realize the potential problem at first and loved using the stroller. Now that they are older and sitting up/moving around, we have to use the harness in order to keep them safely inside the stroller when the seats are upright. Without the harness in place, they would simply just slide right out of the stroller. My issue with this stroller is that the harness is very difficult to use and extremely uncomfortable for younger babies. The harness hooks to the seats, right next to the baby's face/ears and comes down over the chest area. Well, if your baby is small, then the plastic hooks will ride right next to their ears and it will rub against their faces the entire time. I can see how it might work for an older toddler....whose head and shoulders are well above that area where the harness sits. In my opinion, if you plan on using it for a very young infant in a reclining position, it's fine. And even for an older toddler, I imagine it would work fine as well. However, for that in-between stage (8 months-20 months), this is not a good option due to the design flaw of the harness/hooks. For the amount of money we paid for this, I honestly expected a lot better. We are now considering buying another less expensive stroller, one that will be more comfortable for them at this stage. MY SUGGESTION: do NOT purchase this stroller without testing out the harness at your local baby store. Put your baby/babies inside the stroller and try to adjust the harness...you'll see what I'm talking about here.

After agonizing over compromise finally pulled the trigger and never looked back! We were in need of something that can accomadate a record breaking 3/half yo girl at 50 lbs and as tall as other 5, 6, even 7yo children. True we may not have much time to enjoy this stroller but for the short time we are very much so, just wish we did so sooner!! If we had made up our mind sooner we may have gotten the VALCO double, more money but has the infant carrier bar included. Both are great build quality. In the end it would appear the City Jogger would accommadate our very tall child better.

We first had gotten the Joovy Ergo sit and stand "tandem" stroller thinking it would fit better through department store inner isles, in the end it did not and was a pain to push with a large child up front. It was very nice but we rarly used it because lack of ease of use. The day we got the City Mini we immediately were out the door using it kicking ourself not getting it sooner!!! We also looked at the City Micro and the City Elite, all great options. The Micro seats do not fold back all the way and the Elite version is more for all out outdoor terrain it really is amazing.

We also looked at the BOB, very nice but we prefered the City Mini over all, needing something a bit more compact howeve little difference, the City Mini just cant be beat.

At first I could not find the storage strap to keep close, the simpe manual quickly pointed it out, being nit picky it would be more noticable if perhaps they used a red color for that portion of the strap.

Of particular note although the 2010 model is suppose to come with the new and improved larger basket (more square), it appears ours purchased from Amazon, manufacture date 9/2010 came with the older smaller "curved" bottom style, somehting that I noticed in different pictures on Amazon as well as the in store model. Dont know what gives, I plan to contact customer service I assume will strighten things out.

I would even consider having another child because this double stroller is so great.

;-)

4.0 out of 5 stars Good stroller, March 26, 2010
I have 2 kids, 2.5 years and 2.5 months. The younger one is in sleeping position - the backrest hangs and can be seen moving from side to side - its ok, as long as it doesn't make my kid sick :)
The older one fits in tightly with his winter jacket. Also, the upright position is not completely upright and he finds that a little uncomfortable.
The best thing about this stroller is that it is easily maneuverable and folds compact - compact enough for a double stroller.
The rain canopy is somewhat a problem - unable to fit it properly covering both sides. It doesn't strap below and since its open, in case of heavy rain, water accumulates on the footstep. When its windy, the rain canopy protects the kids but is unreliable since it doesn't strap below.
Overall, its a good stroller and i would recommend it to others.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great option for 2 kids!, December 1, 2010

This review is from: Baby Jogger 2010 City Mini Double Stroller, Black/Black (Baby Product)
We had the City Mini single stroller for our 2 year old and loved it, so when we recently had another baby, we researched all of the double strollers. We needed a stroller that was compatible with our Chicco Keyfit 30 carseat. After much research and test drive of the new Chicco double stroller we opted to go with the Baby Jogger City Mini double stroller with Chicco car seat adaptor due to it's light weight and easy fold up capability. The Chicco double stroller was very bulky and hard to maneuver and would have been hard for me to take in and out of our minivan trunk. The City Mini double stroller folds up easy (even with the car seat adaptor) and stores great in our trunk, is easy to push and does fit through standard door frames! The only real negative aspect is the underneath storage basket, which is really difficult to access and isn't big enough to hold large items. You will need a handle bar hook and diaper bag with a long handle to fit over the stroller handle bar!! If you go with this option, be sure to order the correct carseat adaptor for your carseat, there is one for most car seat models and then a different one for Chicco car seats!

5.0 out of 5 stars It's a Dream Come True!, October 30, 2010
This is by far the BEST purchase I have ever made! I am a stay-at-home mom to three wonderful children and I am pregnant with our fourth! I was able to make due with my single Eddie Bauer stroller until now. Once I have this next baby, my youngest and the newborn will be 14 months apart. SO this was a must have purchase. I am a very savvy shopper (my husband taught me well lol) so I did my investigation for many months before purchasing. Unlike many double strollers this one folds in half laying nearly flat! And the best part is that I can lift it and put it in my SUV with out a problem while being 6 months pregnant! It turns on a dime one handed with my 5 year old and 3 year old in either seat. So there is no problem there! It is exceptionally smooth ride and I can push it around one handed. I could not ask for a better product! I do suggest that you also get the double belly bar and 2 child trays to go with it. There will be times that your child will want to eat or drink something and need a place to put those items. Also the Universal Parent Console and the Cooler that they offer. My husband loves the cooler! He just puts his drinks in there and then we go relax with the neighbors. I am jealous of my children! I wish I could be pushed around in this stroller!

4.0 out of 5 stars Happy I listened to the reviews!, April 27, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I had never seen one of these in person before I started researching double strollers, but started hearing buzz on message boards about the City Mini Double. I was almost convinced when I happened to end up in line at the zoo behind one. The dad pushing it said he thought it was great and gave me lots of reasons why I needed to just buy it! I have a 2.5 month old and a 23 month old. I decided to not buy any accessories at this point and it still works fine for neighborhood walks. I just put one of those neck supports in w/ the harness for my littlest one. The only reason I didn't give five stars is because of the safety snaps. They are a blessing and a curse. You need to snap them to the frame in four places before your kids can ride in it and unsnap when you are ready to fold it up. Obviously a good safety feature and what makes it possible to have it fold so easily, it's just a pain sometimes to get down low to snap or unsnap them. Not really a big deal, but when I watched the demonstration video on Utube, they didn't mention it. Overall, I'd DEFINITELY recommend this stroller to anyone w/ 2 small children!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best stroller for baby and toddler, August 20, 2011
This review is from: Baby Jogger 2010 City Mini Double Stroller, Black/Black (Baby Product)
I have been using this stroller for 4 months now with my 5 month old baby and 2 year old toddler. We've used it in urban, suburban, and rural settings.

The good:
--It is the same width as a wheelchair so even though it is a side by side, it still fits easily through most doorways, can be easily manouvred down busy sidewalks, into elevators, etc.
--You really can't beat the turning radius on this thing. It is so easy to turn and doesn't get caught up on itself at all.
--The sunshades are phenomenal. LOVE that.
--I love that the seats can recline all the way. It was the only stroller that I could securely put my 2 month old in without having her in the carseat.
--It's very nice that the kids can't reach each other. I was worried about the toddler pestering the baby, but he can't reach over the middle divider so that's quite nice.
--Both the toddler and the baby can fall asleep in it-- very comfortable ride.
--Very easy to push, comfortable handle, nice glide.

The just ok:
--Sort of annoying that the straps are nearly always twisted when I go to put the kids in. They untwist really easily so it's not a big deal, just bothersome.
--It folds up well, but if you don't turn the wheels right then it will slowly unfold a little bit. There is a strap you can snap around to keep it folded for long term storage, but for in between rides it can be a little obnoxious. But just a little. We took this stroller on Amtrak for a family vacation and it fit fine in the overhead bin so I can't complain much.
--The wheels aren't anything amazing, if you are looking to do a lot of hiking on rocky trails this isn't the best. That being said, we've still taken it on grass and rocky trails and it does much better than I anticipated.

The bad:
--Seriously that basket is a joke. It's deceiving... it would actually hold quite a bit if you could access it anywhere. The only practical place to access the basket is from the side. Even if the seat is empty and you unsnap it to try to get basket access, the middle bar is still really limiting. I can cram my purse/diaper bag under there through the side and you really can get quite a few small things (one at a time) under there, but nothing big. That's a little frustrating but not a dealbreaker.

Overall it is a really wonderful stroller. So easy to manage, the kids love it, easy to take traveling or in the car, makes life with 2 kids so much easier. I definitely recommend it.
