Baby Jogger FIT vs Bob Ironman,

This review is from: Baby Jogger F.I.T. Single Jogging Stroller, Kiwi/Black (Baby Product)
If you are looking at this stroller, you are probably comparing it to Bob Ironman. The new 2011 Bob Ironman is coming out soon, so the 2010 model is selling for the same price as the FIT.You must wonder why the Baby Jogger FIT is not on sale. Well, there will not be a 2011 model for the FIT and the stroller in black/kiwi was discontinued. UPDATE - There will not be a 2012 model either. As you know, Baby Jogger and Bob are very similar. The dimensions and weight are almost identical, and they fold down to almost the same size. However, there are 3 major reasons why we chose Bob Jogger over Bob: -one-handed fold -seat height (24.5' vs 21" for Bob) and width (25.25' vs 23' for Bob) - I have uploaded 2 pictures of my 8 month old son in the Baby Jogger and Bob. You will see what I mean. -washable seat cover (you can machine wash your stroller's seat) Most parents, including myself, purchase a stroller when they are expecting a baby or when the baby is born. They tend to read reviews online and go to baby stores to try out the strollers. However, you will need the stroller for more than few months, even longer if you have a jogging stroller. Many reviewers complain about the seat height of the Bob being too short. Some 2 year old babies cannot fit in them anymore! PROS: (besides the 3 I listed above) -Canopy: It is really sturdy, multi-Position sun canopy, which provides extensive coverage so you will not have to purchase an additional canopy. It has a peek-a-boo window on top, which can be secured with velcro. -Ventilation panel: perfect for the summer to cool down the baby and it can also be covered for colder & rainy days. -Accessories: many accessories are available for this stroller including a car seat adapter for infants. -Customizable stroller: we purchased the Baby Jogger Adjustable Belly Bar which fits perfectly on the FIT and allows to hang some toys for our son. -Removable large storage basket underneath and large storage net attached to the back seat. -Steering: although this stroller has a fixed front wheel, we have no problem steering just by pulling on the handle for gentle turns and curves. -Fixed front wheel: a must have for runners. (We saw the other day a woman running with a swivel front wheel which can be fixed. She was not able to go straight and had to adjust the stroller several times. If you are a serious runner, you should consider a running stroller with a fixed front wheel like this one.) CONS: -No parent tray/cup holder (We use Buggy Buddy - holds 2 large bottles and has a compartment to store your keys, iPod and much more). -Unadjustable handlebar (still at the right height for me (5'4) and my husband (6'0)) - The center of the handle bar is at 41' from the ground. -Does no lock into standing position, but you can easily remove the wheels and put it in Baby Jogger stroller bag. -This stroller, unlike the 2011 City Mini, does not have a "seat support", so we purchased it directly from Baby Jogger for $8 + shipping for additional back support. It is also available on Amazon - Baby Jogger PE Board for use with Single City Mini Strollers - compatible with Baby Jogger FIT.

LOVE the FIT,

This review is from: Baby Jogger F.I.T. Single Jogging Stroller, Slate/Black (Baby Product)
My husband and I are both big runners (running 5+ times a week). We purchased the Summit XC. It was fine to walk with but when we locked the wheel to run- it would pull to the left. BJ sent us a replacement wheel. This time it pulled to the right. They then sent us a new frame- still pulled. So we decided to go with the F.I.T. I would definitely recomment the FIT to anyone who likes to run. We love it! It doesn't pull at all. Throughout it all, BabyJogger had great customer service. They were always willing to send us a new part in order to try it out. After tryint different things, they agreed that we should just switch to a different model. They even had UPS come pick up the old stroller- which meant we didn't have to stand in line to send anything back or pay! We LOVE our FIT!The FIT is defintely for people who like to run but also still want to pack it up to go somewhere. It truly does collapse with one hand and fits easily in the trunk of a car. I think it even fits better in our trunk than our normal Graco stroller.

I did a lot of research before I bought this stroller, and here is why I chose it:1.) It has one of the largest seats, and thus can hold a taller child up to 75 lbs, not just 50 lbs. 2.) It has an extensive canopy that protects the entirety of the child from sun and wind 3.) It is simple to fold and stow in the trunk 4.) The tires come inflated, so you don't need a special pump or a visit to a bike shop Here's what else I found once it arrived: 1.) It glides easily, but the tires are thick and sturdy enough to go on quite rough gravel trails 2.) It is not particularly wide - it fits easily through all the doorways in my house 3.) It's quite easy to steer once you get the hang of it 4.) I don't even have to take the tires off to stow it in the trunk of my Toyota Camry 5.) It came almost fully assembled, so it only took my husband about 10 minutes to put on the wheels and clip the straps in the right setting It also looks extremely sharp. And even though it's called the FIT (For Intermediate Training), I would say it would suit most serious runners. I do a half-marathon once or twice a week, plus smaller runs of 5 or 8 miles, sometimes on flat trails and sometimes on hills. It works perfectly for any of those distances. It is so smooth that my 4 month old baby loves it, and sleeps right through even rough sections of the trail. The only reasons I can think of you might not like it: 1.) The height of the handlebar is not adjustable. I'm 5'9 and it works great for me, but it would probably be too low for my husband who is 6'3 2.) It doesn't come with a rain cover, you have to purchase that separately Oh yeah, and I bought the Kiddopotamus Snuzzler to go inside of it, because my baby is really big for his age, but he is still on the young side for a jogger. The Snuzzler helps hold his head steady even when he's sleeping. I would totally recommend it if you want to run with a 3 or 4 month baby who has good head control, but might need a little support so their head doesn't slump when they fall asleep.

Best quality and best value jogging stroller!,

This review is from: Baby Jogger F.I.T. Single Jogging Stroller, Slate/Black (Baby Product)
I was looking for a jogging stroller and was hesitant to buy one online since I wanted to try them out first. I ended up buying a BabyJogger City Mini because it was very sturdy compared to all the others and my three year old daughter fit very well in it. Unfortunately after opening the box when I got home, I realized it's not intended for jogging (there's a big warning in the front of the instruction manual) despite being advertised as such by the store where I purchased it.I really liked the design and quality of the City Mini, so I decided to look at other models by the Baby Jogger brand and found the FIT and promptly ordered it. It's the same basic design of the City Mini however it has larger wheels with pneumatic tires which make it more suitable for jogging, along with a hand brake and safety wrist strap. I'm very impressed with this stroller and I wish I could have found it sooner! It's ideal for taller babies; my three year old didn't fit well in any of the other joggers I looked at but she fits perfectly in the FIT with some room to grow. The seating position seems very comfortable based on my daughter's happiness riding in it, and can even be adjusted to lie flat for sleeping. It's very sturdy and stable at jogging speeds, and I am confident taking this on long runs. The sun shade is also a great design that folds far over, protecting your baby from intense sun. Another big advantage is the ease of folding it. You simply unsnap two safety straps from the frame and then lift a handle strap on the seat and it folds in half making it very compact to fit in a trunk or to carry inside your house when you're done. I didn't think much of this feature, however this convenience of folding is probably the most important thing for my wife and she's very impressed with this. I would recommend this for anyone looking for a *real* jogging stroller. It's much better than any other joggers including those at higher price tiers.

We recently purchased this jogging stroller. It is much bigger and more comfortable for taller babies/toddlers compared to other brands including Bob Utility and Ironman. They are all about the same weight.

slightly off track,
This review is from: Baby Jogger F.I.T. Single Jogging Stroller, Slate/Black (Baby Product)
I've run about 200kms with the FIT with my 9 month old baby. It is pretty much as good as I hoped, but for a few issues:1. It has a longer wheel base than I expected, making it difficult to manoeuvre around corners and useless as an everyday-use pram because it doesn't fit in any of the cramped cafés I like. 2. When jogging downhill the slightest pressure on the handlebar lifts the front wheel off the ground, meaning the handbrake doesn't work - potentially dangerous at speed. This takes a bit of practice getting used to but is manageable. 3. The pram has a tendency to drag to the right, requiring near-constant correction.

I love this stroller. I bought this 2 days before a 12k run after months of struggling with and finally returning the Schwinn Free Runner jogger stroller. This is a dream! I love it -- it runs so smooth and you really do not need to lift the front wheel off the ground to be able to turn which makes such a difference for both the runner and I am sure for the baby sitting in the jogger. Our baby seems more comfortable in this, the sun shade provides really good coverage and I don't have a bad thing to say about it. We also bought the parent console which has been great for holding keys, cell phone, drink and baby snacks.

I posted this on a comment of another review that was really helpful to me, but decided I wanted to make it an actual review as well..Blessings and happy walking/strolling/running with your little one.. NOTE: I would actually give this a 4.5 :) I just received the baby jogger fit in slate/black and I would agree with much of this review. I had POURED Over the internet obsessing on which jogging stroller to get. I am not a serious runner, but wanted to build myself back up to running again. The main thing that I liked about this stroller is the seat width /height and also the leg room. A few others I was strongly considering met the seat W& H but the legs dangled in the wheel well.(strange).. Even if you don't have huge or tall children, it makes sense to me to purchase something that would last for 3-5 years old.....(face it, these are not cheap :) PROS... -seat height & width & leg room -canopy.. -easy fold and store and removal of wheels. -comfortable and safe for my baby. -love the fixed wheel, come on people it is a must for running, also, I found this easy to turn once you get the hang of it, my ten year old can do it too. I have also enjoyed this at the mall. of course not in tight spaces. -sleek and slim and a nice looking jogger. -love the parking brake.. CONS (for me) My biggest complaint in which I was actually misinformed, THERE ARE NO SHOCKS on this model. I read another review which said there were. big bummer for me! its sister model with the swivel wheel does. This stroller would be in my opinion absolutely PERFECT if it had shocks.. When you narrow your search down check each manufacturers website for specs don't rely on other info. The FIT rides smooth but going over rugged or broken sidewalks or rugged terrain, yeah sure you can do it but it would be less bumpy for your lil one if it had shocks. We decided to keep it since we are not planning on doing a lot of rugged terrain. -lack of storage.. most of these type of strollers on the high end don't have much storage, so no big suprise... there are a lot of options out there, but one thing I did was toys r us had these black soft cup drawstring cupholders for 99cents! I bought not for a cup holder but for keys and cell and or binky.. it works perfect and just attatched to handle.. cheap investment and easy access for those items til I decide which accessory bar I want. -no side ventilation Velcro flaps. I think the sister model with swivel has them mine does not. It would be nice to get some air movement but at same time having no vent pockets might come in handy in cooler months.. (trying to look to the positive :) -feels a little heavy to push.. I had used a friends Kool stride and that was dreamy but it also had big ol' honken tires on it.. I think with slightly less smaller tires it must distribute the weight differently? just a guess, I dunno cuz I don't think the KOOL stride weighed any less than the fit. but all in all it is fairly easy to operate and push... We are happy with our purchase, but is it me or why does it seem impossible to make a jogger with all the things a parent would like to have.. LOL :) I am thankful to all of you guys who write reviews it is very helpful to us all. If you have purchased or own a fit, please tell us your experience, as I had a hard time finding a lot of helpful reviews..

Great jogging stroller!,
This review is from: Baby Jogger F.I.T. Single Jogging Stroller, Slate/Black (Baby Product)
We received the FIT as a gift from family after our baby was born. We wanted the opportunity to go for a jog together and this allowed us to do so. We did also order the Chicco carseat adapter for it as our baby is still an infant. Once that got installed we were off and running! The stroller is extremely sturdy. I was trying to decide between the BOB and Baby Jogger. This was recommended by many and the price was much more reasonable than BOB. I do not regret it at all. I typically go for the brand and don't mind as much about price, but in this situation, I really feel like I got an outstanding stroller for half the price. The wheels are very sturdy, the shade is large and definitely keeps the sun off baby, and it moves like a dream. It truly is a one-fold design. Although bulky (all jogging strollers are), it's easy to fold up and store. My only "complaint" is the fact that the front wheel doesn't swivel so making turns is a tiny bit awkward. You'll figure out how to manage it though. In no way is that a deal breaker.I'd recommend it to all my mommy friends who are in the market for a jogging stroller. We use an umbrella stroller for more of the everyday stuff, but this is perfect for an active family.

solid piece of kit with some minor irritations,
This review is from: Baby Jogger F.I.T. Single Jogging Stroller, Slate/Black (Baby Product)
First off, this is a quality jogger with 90% of materials and construction being 1st rate. It's light weight and smooth riding with no noise (grinding, clattering) whatsoever. Our little guy was asleep within 2 blocks of starting our walk. There are a few irritations that we noticed off the bat. 1. As stated, most of the construction and materials are first rate BUT some of the welds on the frame look like they were performed with one eye closed. 2. If you plan to use this unit for walking more then jogging (be honest!) I'd recommend the jogger with front caster option. Turning in fixed front wheel at low speed (read: not jogging) is a minor annoyance, where your constantly having to lift the front wheel to rotate or drag it around a turn. 3. We ordered the black/green combo jogger but received the black/gray unit. Upon informing the company that sold it to us, we were told that 1: they don't sell the black/green option and 2: we would be charged a substantial restocking fee if we wished to return it. Boo... We ended up just keeping it. 4. Storage areas are to small for a full size diaper bag. Plan trips accordingly. All negative comments are minor annoyances to what is a very solid product. |
