Great for running with 3,
This review is from: Baby Jogger Summit XC Triple Stroller, Red/Black (Baby Product)
I didn't see any reviews before I bought this, so I thought some feedback may be helpful. I absolutely love my new stroller. I have 27mo twins and a 3mo old and I also own a baby jogger performance double (19" fixed wheel ). This stroller gives me the ability to work out or take my kids to the park. With three little ones this is the only way I can get in a work out without having a sitter watch my children. What is great about this stroller it seats 3. The recommended age for the stroller is 6mos, but my youngest has good head control and in the reclined position is seated comfortably. For a large stroller it is perfectly balanced, and easy to push. The front wheels swivel (a must for sidewalks) or lock into place for running. The stroller folds up in about 3 seconds with the pull of the handles. The seats recline nearly flat, which is a newer feature vs my '08 Performance Double. That being said there are a couple of draw backs. This is a very large stroller and it's heavy. It is approximately 44" wide and it will not fit through a standard door unless folded. It is just a couple inches narrower than the side walk, so if people have overgrown hedges, then the stroller is simply too big. It is also quite heavy. I have no problems lifting it and I am petite, but it is awkward. Over all for what it is, a stroller for 3, it is an amazing piece of engineering and worth the high price tag.

This stroller is just what I needed for my three children. They are now 4, 2 and 9 months and all are big for their ages. I have two other Baby Jogger strollers - the Performance Single (2006 version) and the City Elite Double (2008 version). They have been great for our daily 2 - 3 mile walks in our neighborhood. When I was looking for a triple, I wanted something that could handle uneven terrain, grass, gravel and sidewalks. It also needed to handle well pushing three children of differing weights.I strongly considered the Baby Jogger Performance Q Series Triple since it is easy to find those on craigslist.com for $300 or so. My neighbor has one and she graciously let me use it. I put my three children in it and took it for a few miles. I HATED it. All combined, my children weigh 95 lbs, and trying to turn the Performance Triple was a nightmare. I either have to lean hard to one side, or push the handle down to lift the front fixed wheels. It was a beast to deal with. I found it difficult to turn quickly and hard to push. Then I found the Summit XC Triple. I love this stroller because it holds all three children, has swivel wheels in front (which can be locked in place for jogging), and handles uneven terrain fine. At 43lbs, it is only a pound more than my 42lb City Elite Double. No matter which seat the children are in, it pushes well. I have not had a problem with the stroller pulling to one side or another. For reference, my three are now 40lbs, 30lbs and 20 lbs. I tend to put the baby in the middle and the big kids on the sides, but that is just so the big ones don't hit one another! :) This stroller's handle is not adjustable like my double, but it is fixed in just the right spot. I'm 5'11" and the positioning of the stroller handle is fine. I can walk with my normal long stride and not hit my feet on the back of the stroller. My sister is 3 inches shorter than me and says it is fine for her as well. The basket underneath and the mesh pockets and small zipper pockets on the seat backs have plenty of storage. The canopies are very generous too and have the clear windows on top so you can see what the kids are doing. Each child has his own canopy that can be pulled 1/3, 2/3 or all the way out. My oldest only wants it out a little way most days, but the baby can be completely covered up. Each seat is fully adjustable and will go almost flat. That is another feature I have enjoyed since the baby tends to sleep on our walks. I do not believe there is a way to attach the car seats to this one. The seats themselves are not wide enough to handle the width of a car seat. Each seat is slightly narrower than my double stroller's seats, but this is not a problem at all. The kids had ample room in the double and still are comfortable in the triple - even the 4 year old. He's in the 90th percentile for height and 80th for weight, so he is a big boy. The Baby Jogger box said on the side that the stroller is made for kids up to age 5. Just for kicks, I let a neighbor child sit in the stroller one day. She's 8. Her head went right up to the canopy, but she had enough width in the seat to be comfortable. Clearly this is a stroller you can use for a long time. I tend to walk on the street with this stroller because it is so wide. Where I live, we have either narrow sidewalks or none at all. I love that I can be walking on the street and easily zip up onto the sidewalk when a car is coming. That is the beauty of the front swivel wheels. I was actually surprised at how compact it folds. Of course it is wide, but the way the wheels are positioned, even when you fold it it easily fits in the back of the minivan. This is NOT a mall stroller however. It is too wide for doorways unless you fold it and carry it through. Overall, I'm so very pleased with this stroller. It is perfect for my needs and I find it very enjoyable to push.

This stroller is a beautifully built but tragically flawed masterpiece. When we assembled it, it was clear that both front wheels were bent and canted to the left. Sure enough the stroller would do a nice tight 360 all by itself within our cul de sac. We called the manufacturer and sent them pictures showing that the FRAME was bent and BOTH front wheels where canted. They responded by sending us ONE new wheel. And they took 4 weeks to do it. And the ONE wheel lacked the mechanism to lock it in place. So I scavenged the locking mechanism off the old wheel, locked it in place and watched the stroller turn another 360's in my cul de sac. I then noticed that the collar that locks the front wheels in place had been installed backward, 180 degrees out from what it depicted in the pictures. Imagine the castor wheel on a grocery cart being locked backwards but with some slop in the locking mechanism...The wheel will constantly bang back and forth as it tries to spin itself 180 degrees. That's what both front wheels on this heap-o-dung where doing, banging back and forth, fighting each other and taking the cart in random direction. Perhaps the Summit engineers can take a field trip to the grocery market to learn how wheels work? Considering that it took 4 weeks for them to offer me a non-fix that I told them wouldn't work I'm just shipping the whole thing back; here's your POS, suck it. I'll run my triplets around in a wheelbarrow instead. Also, the thing is so wide that it has to be collapsed to fit through any doors and I can't even run it down the sidewalk without constantly pulling into the road to get around obstacles. With that being said, if you can stand its width, and you can get one that is assembled properly, it is a truly beautiful and high quality piece of gear that should last you for a decade or so.

Before I ordered this, I had 2 of Baby Jogger's double strollers, the performance jogger and the city mini. Loved both of them. When I started looking for triple joggers, I had a hard time finding good reviews on other brands and didn't find any on this one. However, since I was pleased with Baby Jogger's other strollers, I figured I would stick with them even though the price was steep. When I went for my first run I made it about a block and had to turn around and go home. I thought I had positioned my kids unevenly and that's why the stroller was veering to the right. With the stroller empty though it still drifted to the right terribly. We contacted Baby Jogger and they sent us a new set of wheels. Then they sent us a new frame. Then they sent us a new stroller. The new stroller did the same thing, except this time it was to the left. Then they said they would personally test one before sending it to us. At first I thought we had a winner....until I went farther than a block. It continuously kept drifting to the right. I thought I would just have to deal with it. After 30 min my forearms were so sore from trying to keep it straight that it then sat in my garage for a couple of weeks. Took it out again to just go around my neighborhood and I couldn't even keep it out my my neighbors' grass. With the wheels unlocked it's not bad, but it still drifts. With the wheels locked, it's horrible. Thought about keeping it and just running with the wheels unlocked but everything you read says it's dangerous to do. So I returned it. By luck, I found an older model of Baby Jogger's triple stroller on craigslist. It doesn't look as pretty, but right from the start I could feel how much lighter it was. Then I went for a 3 mile run and came back smiling like crazy. It was wonderful!!! Their older model has the larger wheels in both the back and front and no option of locking/unlocking. For the serious runner though, this is the way to go. Their new wheels are terrible for runners and I pray they figure out their mistake soon and bring back the real triple jogging stroller. And the best part about the older version I found... I only paid $350. Save your money on this one and look for their older version on ebay or craigslist and if you can't find it, go with a different brand. This stroller is truly a flop for Baby Jogger.

We bought this stroller for our kids, twins about to turn 2 and older brother who is 3.5. We had put off buying a triple by making do with the double. We did it for almost 2 years, but we felt forced to buy the triple when our older child started preschool and refused to use his scooter. He demanded to use the stroller which meant mom had to carry one of the twins on her back using the Ergo carrier. It was exhausting! The triple is a safe way to get them from point A to point B around the neighborhood. Though it is a triple, and impossible to miss, it is very smooth and glides along easily. This is probably because it is a jogger. I never use it to jog with the kids, but I can imagine it is very good.We no longer live in the Big Apple but in a suburb that is very walkable. The triple fits on 99% of the sidewalks so it's not a problem getting around. Putting it together was easy. Mom did it without Dad's help. Folding is easy, just like it is for all the Baby Joggers. We haven't traveled with it yet so I can't say if it fits easily in the trunk of our Toyota minivan. All in all, we are happy with our purchase. We wish we hadn't had to buy it but oh well. :)
