5.0 out of 5 stars Baby Love
Baby Love is an interesting film. It goes through some weird scenes that make you feel semi uncomfortable, and has an underlying sexual tension. It captures the story of a growing youth trying to manipulate a family.

Great film, nice conversion!

Dr. Robert Quayle (Keith Barron), his wealthy wife Amy (Ann Lynn), and their handsome son Nick (Derek Lamden) do eventually figure Luci out. Luci and Nick have the only material skin scenes. It's a solid, controversial, 3-star movie.

I own an old VHS tape of the film. When this "remastered" DVD was offered at a reasonable price, I bought it, intending to upgrade. The surprise was that the picture quality of this DVD was of the same order as the VHS, maybe even a bit worse. The special features were ways of advertising films offered by [...], but even some the graphics supporting those clips were rather indistinct. I mark the DVD down one star for the lack of sharpness and clarity of the picture.

5.0 out of 5 stars Poor Transfer, Great Movie, May 17, 2010

The Transfer is a little poor, but still 100x better than other companies (I have bought this title 3 times in pursuit of a clean picture)

I wish that old movies could be played in HD, but that is not the case.

Don't wine about the quality of old movies.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great Film Ruined By Woeful Quality, September 9, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I do not normally take the time to write reviews about purchased products, but in this case I made an exception to warn others who may be contemplating acquiring the DVd copy from this source. As I knew the film from way back via rare screenings on British TV, I was aware of the storyline, setting etc. It had been a long time since viewings, and I must say the film as it stands has not lost it's earthy subject matter and portrayal. I also read a comment before purchasing from another afficiando that warned of the DVD quality being worse than his VHS copy. How bad could it be I asked, and proceeded to ignore it - to my peril. The film quality was so bad that in places it was hard to make out characters and detail due to bleaching. It appeared to be a product of recursive copying from an extremely low quality VHS (original?).
If you remember this film from it's inception, do NOT spoil the recollection by purchasing this DVD from this source, you will be sorry!

5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I needed, February 3, 2011
I needed a good copy of this movie for my collection (I own over 3000 titles), chose this one. Works fine, good case, great price.

This is the re-mastered version I was looking for, luckily it was the first I purchased (many older DVD's that I purchase I return because of video and audio quality)

Fast shipping as always from amazon.com.

Recommend to anyone. (by the way, for all my other collectionists out there, this copy is not restricted to region 1. So you can play it anywhere in the world)

Thanks again!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great film, Good Remaster, August 3, 2011
First off, this is a great little film with a whole lot of charm. The mild sexual tension, and family relationships are very very shocking for this time in film making. The 60's birthed many memorable movies, this being one of the best.

The remaster on this film was wonderful. I felt like the 13 year old again watching this old flick.

Recommend to anyone.

3.0 out of 5 stars A Very Emotionally Troubled Young Teen, February 10, 2008
By
Artist & Author (Near Mt. Baker, WA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Baby Love [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I don't know what movie many of the other reviewers (NY Times, IMBD, etc.) of this film saw, but I certainly disagree that Luci set out to seduce every member of the family. She seemed to me to be an extremely insecure teen, extremely neurotic, and that she was behaving strangely because of her own inner demons. Any sexual acting out came from trying to cope with her anxieties and not from any conscious or diabolical means. If Luci was clingy, it was because she was desperately trying to find some real love in her life. Unfortunately for those type of people, they drive away the very love they crave . . . unless those in authority over her are extremely understanding and even trained to cope with such anxiety. Fear is being afraid of something external to you; anxiety is irrationally being afraid of things that exist only in one's mind.

Almost everyone encounters a person such as Luci at some point in their life. While the circumstances are very different, the German movie "Forest for the Trees" is also about a young woman who is so desperate for friends she manages to drive everyone away from her. Parents may want to show this movie to teens who've encountered such a person and discuss how it would be best to handle the situation, both lovingly and yet without letting the person control their life. I would warn that there are a few nude scenes with Luci, but (at least in my opinion) they are not particularly offensive.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good DVD, February 10, 2011
This was a great pick up. It had two versions of 1984, so its worth the buck. I teach freshmen English, and in my lesson plan this year I started them reading Animal Farm, and then 1984. I brought this after we finished reading, and would put on segments on days that I had to bring in a substitute.

I highly recommend!

Like the other reviewers, I thought the transfer could not be as bad as they claimed. Also, like the other reviewers, I was unpleasantly surprised. This "remastered edition" is actually worse than a third (possibly fourth)generation bootleg copy I got from eBay. I even suspect that "edition" was the source for this one. The good news is one can usually distinguish the really beautiful young Linda Hayden from the other actors in most of the scenes. There is no other good news. The sad news is this video company was actually silly enough to advertise other movies of similar video quality. The only sharp screen in this product is the menu, and it doesn't offer much or work properly.

1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY THIS !, January 16, 2011
This has to be the worst quality DVD I have ever seen. It is literally unwatchable. The colour has drained all but completely. The picture is distorted and broken up. Imagine a photo file on your computer that has become corrupted - that is what this DVD is like.

Describing it as 'remastered' is a joke. I find it incomprehensible that a company has the nerve to sell this as a 'product', and that such a high price is being charged for it, too.

If you buy this DVD you will find yourself throwing into the trash bin after a few minutes of play in your DVD player.

My advice would be to find an old VHS copy. The sound of an old VHS may be a bit dodgy, and the picture not sharp, but I promise you that the quality will be infinitely better than this company's DVD version.

The film itself (I have a VHS copy) is very good, and worth seeking out - fans of Linda Hayden won't be disappointed.
