1.0 out of 5 stars Thirteen bucks for this?
Folks, this is more of a pamphlet than it is a book. It's 87 pages filled with large type and generous spaces between paragraps and chapters. You remember when you were a kid and had to write a 20 page essay and you'd try to trick your teacher making it look like 20 pages when it wasn't? That's exactly what this book is trying to do. I was going to return it to Amazon...

4.0 out of 5 stars Guide To Your Child's Stardom, April 27, 2007
This review is from: Baby Modeling & Beyond: From the Stroller to the Red Carpet (Paperback)
Baby Modeling & Beyond: From The Stroller To The Red Carpet, by Sibylla Nash, introduces the reader to guidelines for getting your child into the modeling or acting business. The book starts off with a quiz for parents to determine if they are ready to get their child into the business. There was information on modeling scams and the warning signs to look for. There are also listings of tax deductions and modeling agencies with addresses and phone numbers. Ms. Nash also provided a section called Unscripted, which are her own personal experiences. Of interest was information she shared regarding times when her daughter could not fit the clothes that were available for her age and what she did to address the dilemma. She says that parents must have a flexible schedule to be able to go to auditions and they may need a backup person to fill in for them.

There is also information pertaining to starting a bank account for your child. There was emphasis put on the fact that California established a law called the Coogan Law which makes parents deposit 15% of their child's earnings into a trust fund account. The information on location and relocation was very beneficial. It tells parents to do their homework when it comes to location. For example, some states require work permits for children. Also, consider the cost of living when deciding to relocate.

I recommend this read to people looking to get their child into modeling or acting. This book was very informative and well-written.

If you are seriously interested in getting your child into modeling, then this is the book that will answer any and all your questions. From the 1st to the last page you get neccessary information. I'm a mother of an 8-year old and I wish I bought this book before I got the others, they were a waste of money.

I was going to return it to Amazon because I felt so cheated but I missed their 30 day grace period. The little information that this guide has is helpful but I felt the author could have added so much more to it. More personal insights on the business, more journal excerpts, etc. If you're serious about baby modeling and you've got $13 burning a hole is your pocket then by all means purchase this book. Otherwise, don't waste your money and buy something with a little more substance.

4.0 out of 5 stars Useful but a little on the expensive side, October 19, 2008

I bought this book as I was considering the possibility of getting my cute little boy into the world of baby modeling and I want to know what I was getting myself into. When I received this book it is a little on thin side but it is still crammed with masses of information and helpful hints and tips. Personally this book helped me make the decision that I shall not be following this up as a career for my little one as although it is possible to do it anywhere not being in NY or LA or a couple of other big cities can really limit your chances. Also I am not too sure I want to be running here, there and everywhere. However it has addresses of agents etc and tips on what you need to be willing to do. I do however think that for the size of book the price could be halved, but I guess if your little one makes it big in the world of modeling it is a small price to pay. I would recommend this book to all who are thinking about this area for there kids.

Good information for anyone with a child entering the modeling business. Good tips from a mother who has been in the biz for a while and knows the ins/outs of NYC & LA "go sees" for baby models.
