NOT A BAD LITTLE THRILLER!!,
By "martstuff" (PHOENIX, ARIZONA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Baby Monitor: Sound of Fear [VHS] (VHS Tape)
In this nice little thriller, the rich wife of a cheating husband hires a thug duo to kill the babysitter, who is pregnant with the hubby's child. The thugs decide to hold their 5 year old boy for ransom too and collect diamonds along with their hit money. Problem is, they've gone to the wrong condo, killed the wrong woman, and now have to deal with the real babysitter out to protect both boys. Suspenseful and not cheesy like some 'babysitter' killer movies, this one portrays the pretty blonde babysitter (played by cute Josie Bissett) as a likeable medical student with a lot of common sense and guts!!! The only thing I didn't like about the movie was that by the end, I was ready to kill the annoying 5 year old boy myself!!! Rated R for some violence, this must have been a made-for-cable movie, and should've been rated PG-13.

Baby Monitor: The Sound of Fear is a very good movie. It is so good you can almost eat it. It is one of those feel good movies where you are left feeling good in the end. I don't know if that is a good thing or not though. The problem is this, every character is an archetype. I'll start with the frigid bullying wife: She belittles and nags her husband nonstop whilst spewing venom on everyone she comes across. Five minutes in your wondering how these two ever got together and not at all surprised he's romping with the nanny.
The husband is caring and genuinely concerned over his son's welfare. He watches longingly as Anne gets him to eat his spagetti, (which is just a plate of plain noodles by the way.) The mom then comes home and lets him eat ice cream before he goes to bed, deepening the loathing you as a viewer already are developing for her. The nanny is a beautiful girl but brainy with a future in medicine, which somehow makes it ok that she is sleeping with her boss. She also has alot of good motherly attributes which when played off the real mom make her much more likable, she is the most sympathetic character in the film, I mean she's pregnant!! In the end the affair having husband and nanny are the good guys and the nagging mom is the knife wielding nut.. but hey it's lifetime tv and a feel good film that's how it is and you wouldn't want it any other way. Watch this movie.. it's really good.
