5.0 out of 5 stars 'Must-have' reference for fiction writers
`Baby Names Made Easy' is truly a unique approach to the traditional baby name book. As an aspiring writer, I found this book's organization to be extremely useful. Names are grouped into categories according to their meaning instead of in long alphabetized lists. 2.0 out of 5 stars Good for naming pets, not babies
Most of the names in this book are just too weird. You have to sort through the lists to find the few names that are even slightly reasonable. I also find that the descriptions are too short. The book only lists how the names relate to the section you are reading, there is no mention of the other definitions of the name. I would recommend "The Baby Name Wizard" instead.

5.0 out of 5 stars 'Must-have' reference for fiction writers, October 10, 2009
This review is from: Baby Names Made Easy: The Complete Reverse-Dictionary of Baby Names (Paperback)
`Baby Names Made Easy' is truly a unique approach to the traditional baby name book. As an aspiring writer, I found this book's organization to be extremely useful. Names are grouped into categories according to their meaning instead of in long alphabetized lists. If I want to find male names with animal meanings or those denoting strength, for instance, I have simply to flip to the relevant chapters.
Also, if you just want to look up a name there is an index, divided into both male and female names, at the back of the book. I see this book becoming a `must-have' reference for fiction writers searching for meaningful names for their characters and I wholeheartedly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not the typical baby name book!, April 11, 2010
This review is from: Baby Names Made Easy: The Complete Reverse-Dictionary of Baby Names (Paperback)
I love the organization of this book: it's organized by meaning and not just alphabetically. So if you're looking for biblical names, or names that mean strength, or beauty, or love, you can find them all in the same place. Great if you want to give all of your children names that have a common theme (instead of just with the same starting letter or something like that), or want to name a baby after a family member but not give them the exact same name. So much more interesting to flip through than the average baby name book, and it has a great range of names from all over the world.

5.0 out of 5 stars an essential resource book for life, April 27, 2010

Even after your kids are named and grown, you will find yourself picking this up and using it again and again. We use it whenever my daughter needs to name a stuffed animal. I find myself giving a copy of "Baby Names Made Easy" to every person I know who is having a baby. It's so much fun to browse and find out the meaning of names you use every day!

5.0 out of 5 stars What a Help!, April 19, 2010
This book is an outstanding resource! Unlike more traditional name books it is such an added bonus that the names are arranged categorically. A real help for anyone wanting a name with real PIZZAZZ for their bundle of joy.

I got about 12 Baby name books and this was definitely one of my top three favorites...it has a nice combination of traditional and exotic names. Also, the categories the author puts the names into is a very nice feature...I HIGHLY recommend this book!

This is my favorite baby naming book so far. I had some ideas of meanings I would like for my baby's name, and this book made it easy to track down a name based on a meaning. It's much handier than searching through names alphabetically.

I found this book very helpful when trying to pick a name for my baby. It was nice to have the names organized by meaning instead of a traditional alphabetized list.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book was a winner!, July 15, 2009
This review is from: Baby Names Made Easy: The Complete Reverse-Dictionary of Baby Names (Paperback)
Great book! It was much easier to use than some of the other books on the market. I really liked the idea of naming my kids using a common theme, but I've never been a fan of having all my kids' names start with the same first initial. My family has enough trouble remembering all the kids names as it is. But with Baby Names Made Easy, I found boys and girls names that I liked that share the same meaning. Plus it was fun to go back through old family names to try to pick up a naming tradition that I could follow. This is definitely a book I'll keep.
