not what I expected,
By A Customer
This review is from: Baby Play And Learn: 160 Games and Learning Activities for the First Three Years (Paperback)
There wasn't as much in this book as I was hoping for. The games that are suggested are mainly things I would do with my baby anyway. I guess I was hoping for a little more creativity and insight about development. Also, some of the games did not seem safe to me. One game suggests putting down a wooden ladder for a toddler to walk through like an obstacle course and sitting at the other end to encourage him/her to walk through. That just sounded like a trip hazard with a parent too far away to catch.

So many ideas for a clueless mother!,

This review is from: Baby Play And Learn: 160 Games and Learning Activities for the First Three Years (Paperback)
I absolutely adore this book and highly recommend it to parents everywhere. I think of myself as a fairly creative person but got tired of the same old games that I knew from my childhood. This book gives wonderful ideas and separates them into age appropriate groups - a must for me since I have a 10 month and 27 month old! The ideas are also simple and does not take many or any materials to do, which is great for those on a limited budget. I suggest you get this book if you like spending time with your baby/toddler and teaching them without them knowing it! Enjoy!

Good for when you run out of ideas,

This book doesnt provide you with games that are unique or that you havent practiced by the time you receive the book. I knew this before buying the book, still I decided to buy it. I keep it in the playing area, and when I run out of ideas I turn to it and find something else to play with my baby. Its like a memory jogger, you know all the stuff in there, but you still need it to help you remember what you know...if that makes any sense to you.

A Must Have Game Book for Baby,
By Happy Boy's Mommy (San Jose, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Baby Play And Learn: 160 Games and Learning Activities for the First Three Years (Paperback)
I totally agree with the author's saying: The best toy for your baby is one that stimulates all five senses - and that is you!
I would spend a lot of money buying toys for my lovable baby. After reading this book, I knew that my baby favors me more than any toys. I used some of the game ideas from this book to play with my baby, we both had great fun. There are so many great ideas in this book, and it is nicely organized by age: 0-3 months, 3-6 months etc. I highly recommend this book to every parent.

First time mother with no kid experience. Was a helpful tool for me. Gave me ideas on games and activities that would not only be fun for my toddler but would help him developmentally. Really had some good ideas.

Great Ideas for Activities to Do With Baby,
By A Customer
This review is from: Baby Play And Learn: 160 Games and Learning Activities for the First Three Years (Paperback)
This book gave me tons of ideas for things to do with my baby. I was nervous about being a first-time-dad. Not knowing how to handle a baby or how to play with a baby was wearing on my nerves. Penny's book helped calm me down, and now I'm totally comfortable playing with my son. Thanks Penny, for writing a book that helped me become a better father!

An exception among "games" books for babies,
This review is from: Baby Play And Learn: 160 Games and Learning Activities for the First Three Years (Paperback)
I was nicely surprised by this book. Most of the "games" books bought so far have been very commonsense even for a future clueless mother (that'd be me). This one is a bit exceptional. It brought some new ideas and I must say the illustrations of every game got me. They made all the games look fun and easy to imagine. The learning skills are clearly stated for each activity, as well as some variations so it's pretty complete. A keeper for me.

Average but good to jog your memory for activities,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Baby Play And Learn: 160 Games and Learning Activities for the First Three Years (Paperback)
Like many of the reviews I read before purchasing this book-- many of the games/ideas are ones you could come up with on your own. With that said, it's nice to have a little reference book to jog your memory and keep things fresh for your child after you have severe "mommy(or daddy)brain." I leave this out for our sitters so they have a quick guide to games too. It's good to have on hand.
