BABY RICHARD—A FOUR-YEAR-OLD COMES HOME

"What ever happened to Baby Richard?" This exclusive, heartwarming narrative--about the mid-nineties case that became the most controversial custody battle in history--answers that question. Written by the child’s psychologist, it discloses the untold, intimate, and private side of the story about the baby who became the symbol of adoption gone tragically awry. How the four-year-old and his birth parents bonded and became a family—in spite of fierce opposition--will make you cry, laugh, get angry, and share the joy of their personal triumphs.

This landmark case for adoption and for fathers’ rights was debated across the country and in Europe, Canada, and Australia. Baby Richard raged through the courts at every level and led to new laws in thirty states. With her clients’ permission, Dr. Karen Moriarty--who donated her services to the child and his family--reveals this rare, behind-the-scenes view of the real people and their passions, struggles, defeats, and victories. Her book provides the exclusive update on all of the major players in the bitter conflict and on the child himself, his parents and sisters, including photographs.

1.0 out of 5 stars disappointing, February 26, 2010
This review is from: Baby Richard: A Four-Year-Old Comes Home (Paperback)
When I first began reading the book, it was refreshing to see it from another perspective. I do believe that ultimately the right decision was made. However, it seems that Dr. Moriarty wanted to vilify the Warburtons just as she claims they did the Kirchners. Do 2 wrongs make a right? Regardless of how the media portrayed the event, I cannot believe it was all masterminded by the Warburtons to create the fiasco. Media happens! I lived in the Warburton's neighborhood and know personally that they are wonderful caring people. They did not steal him, nor did they "leave him alone." It was interesting to read Danny's update and to see photos, but gut wrenching to read the awful things written about such good people.

1.0 out of 5 stars Think a second time., April 4, 2010
This review is from: Baby Richard: A Four-Year-Old Comes Home (Paperback)
I would have given this "book" a negative star rating if it were possible. This pile of trash is as big a farce as the five so-called Illinois supreme court justices.
To find out the REAL facts read the book called "Think a Second Time" by Dennis Prager.

1.0 out of 5 stars Karen Moriarty's biases, May 5, 2005
This review is from: Baby Richard: A Four-Year-Old Comes Home (Paperback)
I think before people read this book they should be aware that this 'therapist' is hardly an impartial counselor. She had a strong anti-adoption bias from the start, so any testimony from her on how Baby Richard is doing is automatically suspect.
