Book Description

Harlequin American Romance March 1, 2005
Her Gift...
Josh McBride arrives at Halden's local vet practice prepared to temporarily step in for a doctor who's about to have a baby. But he's not prepared for a midwife with a head of rich copper hair whose special way with needy strays has an immediate and possibly permanent effect on one in particular--his eight-year-old son.

... Is His Problem
Gen Halvorson can't resist reaching out to the little boy, despite his father's obvious mistrust of her talents and her motives. She's not sure what she'll do even if she does convince them to finally settle in Halden. Especially once Josh discovers that he and Tyler aren't the only ones who need TLC and healing in the small North Dakota town...

Editorial Reviews

Review

Three Stars (enjoyable, pleasant read)--"The plot offers some suspenseful twists, and the prairie setting is beautiful." -- Romantic Times Magazine, March 2005

About the Author

Lisa McAllister started writing in elementary school. The sciences have always held a fascination for her, as evidenced by her "day jobs" as a veterinary technician, clinical laboratory assistant, and environmental chemist. She frequently draws on her science background in her writing and readily admits to a love of science thrillers, bad sci-fi films and B-movie monsters.

The Baby Season, set in North Dakota, is Lisa's second book. Her first novel, Buffalo Gal, a 'runaway bride/ranch story with UFOs,' was a November 1998 release by Harlequin Superromance. Both were inspired by Lisa's visits to North Dakota with her husband, Ron, a native of that state.

Lisa makes her home in the Pacific Northwest with Ron, who is also an author, and a variable number of cats.
