4.0 out of 5 stars Great baby backpack
I ordered the baby sherpa alpha after having my second child, needing a bag that work work for preschooler needs (juice, snacks, lunch) and baby needs (bottles, diapers, wipes, baby food). This is pretty perfect. Only fix? Not enough small interior pockets inside, like a purse. I can't find tiny things easily. Otherwise, really love this backpack.

3.0 out of 5 stars not enough space for baby neccessities
I researched all sorts of baby diaper backpacks and thought this one would be the winner. It is an okay bag but now I wish I had kept the tags and paperwork to return it. The Lap top pocket is barely big enough to hold a laptop and if you do carry a lap top, there is no room for a changing pad (you have to choose one or the other and i would rather the changing pad)...

3.0 out of 5 stars not enough space for baby neccessities, August 2, 2010

I researched all sorts of baby diaper backpacks and thought this one would be the winner. It is an okay bag but now I wish I had kept the tags and paperwork to return it. The Lap top pocket is barely big enough to hold a laptop and if you do carry a lap top, there is no room for a changing pad (you have to choose one or the other and i would rather the changing pad). There is no diaper specific pockets or even enough inside pockets to separate your things. Also, there are no stroller straps to attach to your stroller or shopping cart for when you'd like to put your bag down. The big built in cooler is nice, but since most people just carry a few snacks for their children and not a six pack of cans, it makes for much less storage in the main backpack and makes the backpack top heavy. It also has no pacifier holder. The two extra side pockets could be slightly bigger. The material seems to be durable so far and it has served it's purpose. All in all, I would recommend a more diaper gear friendly bag to others. For being a diaper backpack, the Alpha Sherpa doesn't have all their bases covered.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice concept but poor quality, February 15, 2011
This review is from: Baby Sherpa Alpha Sherpa - Black (Apparel)
I've had the Alpha Sherpa backpack for just over a year. I really like the cooler compartment in the bottom: it allows me to keep food items, messy bibs or other wet items separate from the rest of the bag. The side bottle compartment and mesh side water bottle holder are nice as well (I have a toddler and a baby, so it's great to have easily accessible outer pockets for each of their cups). The top compartment is rather small for 2 kids' stuff so I tend to overpack it, which may be why the zipper has split. The bungees on the front have also snapped in one place, so not all of them are useful now. The chest strap that holds the shoulder straps in place started to rip right away, so it's not very sturdy either.

I like having a backpack so my hands are free: it's hard to manage a toddler and a baby when I'm worrying about a diaper bag swinging off my shoulder to whack a kid, so this design solves that issue. The shoulder straps are nicely padded so they're pretty comfortable and make it easier to carry a heavy load than with a messenger bag.

I agree with the other review that points out that you can either use the laptop sleeve as a laptop case or a changing pad carrier - there isn't a way to do both. We just haven't used it for a laptop sleeve. Also, the pad that came with the bag was too small and didn't seem like it would be easy to clean, so we replaced it with the JJ Cole pad we had from our Method bag.

Overall, I'm disappointed with the quality for the price ($90) of this bag. I knew there was only a 30 day warranty when I bought it, which made me suspect that the quality wasn't outstanding but I did hope it would last more than a year. I wouldn't recommend this bag to someone using it everyday; maybe only for occassional outings.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best diaper bag ever!, February 5, 2011

We received several diaper bags from our baby showers - cheap and expensive ones. This one is by far our favorite.

We love the laptop sleeve so we don't have to carry extra computer bags. The cooler in the bottom is a must-have when traveling with breastmilk or formula. Plus, it's easy to carry through an airport - you can't beat that.

I purchased this product in April didn't use it until our first Family Vacation in May and have used it once a week for swim class. The product has now ripped on the main strap side - (where you put your arm through) Where the strap attaches to the back pack how did it rip already. :( So sad!!!!

I was under the impression the product was built to last.

2.0 out of 5 stars Looks big, but there's no room!, June 1, 2011
This review is from: Baby Sherpa Alpha Sherpa - Black (Apparel)
I don't get it. The bag is huge. There's plenty of pockets and nooks/crannies. And yet, there's not enough room for even the minimal amount of baby stuff! I have a smaller bag that actually holds more! I think they way the pockets are situated makes less room. If it was just wide open in there like a backpack should be, it would be perfect! But once you fill up one pocket it makes no room in another. Glad I bought this one used on eBay because I would have wasted a lot of money if I bought it new.

3.0 out of 5 stars Slightly disappointed, May 23, 2011

The concept of being hands free while carrying a diaper bag is great. However, I found this bag to be bulky and wasn't really as roomy as I thought it would be. It has many pockets and compartments, but the compartments are small as it's hard fit everything I need to carry. The worst part is the bottom "cooler" compartment. Often times this compartment is crushed by the top compartment as it is "top heavy". The side pockets sticks out too much and gets caught on things as I walk through narrow spaces (ie aisles or through gates). I'd much rather have one big back pack with one compartment so that I can pack more stuff or be able to carry larger items. I don't think it's worth the money.

I bought this backpack in Jan 2011, it was great. Lots of space, enough padding on straps, several pockets... I loved it till last week, when the strap came off completely. It could be fixed, but for the money I expected it will last longer.
Also there are minor problems, like the loop for waist belt felt off (I fixed it), and seam on one of the pocket ripes off.
