5.0 out of 5 stars So much fun, September 17, 2006

We happened upon this book in a vacation home on Martha's Vineyard and my two year old fell in love with it. He speaks the refrain himself. The book has a great rhythm that is fun to read for adults too. My son wants us to recite it from memory when the book is not around. We simply had to buy it when we got home.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific new kids book, May 2, 2006
This review is from: Baby Shoes (Hardcover)
Great rhyming text and fabulous illustrations. Toddlers (and parents) can identify with the story and pictures. You can read it the requisite ten thousand times and not want to die. Excellent addition to the bedtime library.

Oh my goodness, this book is adorable! the text is bouncy and the illustrations burst off the page! My 2 year old loves to chime in 'Uh oh' and 'oh no!' during the refrain!

5.0 out of 5 stars Moments to giggle with grandma, October 2, 2011

My 20 month old granddaughter loves this book. We check out 6 per week from the library (for many months now)and only 2 books in all these months make her giggle every time we read it together.
I read "those shoes just".....she responds "go, go, go". This reply ends with peals of laughter....so I orderd 2, one to keep and one to share. Thank you for good memories.

I got this book from the library and we loved it! When I went to buy it and saw it in board form I jumped on it. they cut out the last page and it makes us a bit sad. - we feel it ends abruptly but we still like it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love it!, April 8, 2010

I originally borrowed this book from the library, and my daughter enjoyed it very much. It is really catchy, and my daughter was reciting the story long after we returned the library version. She just enjoyed this book too much not to add it to our personal collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars entertaining and fun, August 18, 2009

My niece and daughter both absolutely fell in love with this book when they were around a year old. Baby Shoes is a fun, well written story with fantastic illustrations and use of repetition.

In the story, the new shoes keep getting new stains on them each a different color (green from the grass, purple from plums, red from chalk, etc.). After each new stain, baby says "uh, oh," mama says "oh, no" and the shoes just "go, go, go." That repetition is fabulous for babies/toddlers. In fact, before she could talk, our daughter used sign language to say "uh, oh" and "oh, no" before we could even get the words out.

The adventures the baby goes on are ones she can totally relate to. She gets so excited about the ducks in the park, sidewalk chalk, splashing in a puddle, etc. This lets us spend minutes on each page talking about the story, teaching her new vocabulary and helping her make connections between the book and her daily life.

And, unlike, some of her books, I do not sigh when she grabs it off the shelf for the tenth night in the row. I actually enjoy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars My daughter loves this book, June 27, 2009
This review is from: Baby Shoes (Hardcover)
My daughter and I both love this book. It has good rhythm and is just the right length for a toddler. She likes to say the 'uh oh' and 'go go go' words with me too. The pictures are adorable as well. It is hard to find good children's book I think these days and so happy I found this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Picture Perfect, March 23, 2009

This is currently my favprite book to give to new mothers. (I'm keeping a copy for myself, too.) Together, text and pictures perfectly convey the energy and excitement of a curly-headed toddler out for a day of exploration followed by her good-humored, patient mother. (And, oh, those poor shoes!) A fun choice to giggle over with a preschooler. Bouquets to author and artist.
