My baby was between 5 and 6 months when I ordered this book. My baby enjoyed the colorful pictures. The book is a small board book, so the places where the baby can touch are very small. There are 5 textures and 7 shiny objects for a total of 12 pages (duckling, piglet, bucket, cow, sheep, sheepdogs, tractor, wheat, lamb, chick, hen, and egg). I did like that there were sound words to associate with each object.

I was hoping for more textures rather than shiny parts of the picture. That's why I only gave it 3 stars.

my 9 month old baby is trying to eat everything including the "fur" of the sheepdog. She was able to rip pieces off with her teeth (she has the bottom two and the top two are barely coming in). She had pieces of the fur in her mouth. I don't think the "fur" should come off that easily. Maybe this book would be better suited for older children.

My 8-month-old loves two of the DK Touch and Feel books he received as Christmas presents, so I ordered him 4 more (including this one) this week. I thought getting the "new edition!" would be a good thing but I am very disappointed. There are not really very many items that are textured, and the textured areas are tiny--he barely notices them. The older editions we have are slightly larger books, seem to have larger "feely" areas and the "feely" parts are more fun. There were a lot in here that are not really textures, just different material (shiny or sparkly). I am actually going to take the loss on shipping these back because I was so disappointed and would rather get him books he will really get into.

I bought this book for a new baby, and my 19-month-old went nuts over it. He is a big fan of books and loves touch-and-feel books especially. I thought he would be too old for this book, but he seems to really enjoy telling us which animal is which and making the right sound for each.
