About the Author

Roger Priddy left school at 16 with just one qualification--in art. He went to Berkshire College of Art and Design and trained as an illustrator. His first job in children's books was working with the publisher Peter Usborne, at Usborne Publishing, and then he worked with Peter Kindersley at Dorling Kindersley, where he spent 16 years. Priddy became Creative Director of DK's Children's Division and was Managing Director of the children's mass market publisher Funfax when it was acquired by DK.

In 2000, he created Priddy Books with John Sargent at St Martin's Press to create innovative and imaginative titles for children, from first books for babies through early reference titles for older children. Since then, over 30 million copies of Roger's 200 plus books have sold worldwide, with five of his books--My Big Animal, My Big Truck, Happy Baby Words, Happy Baby Colors and Puppy and Friends--each selling over one million copies. He is also the author of Big Board First 100 Words; Big Board Books Colors, ABC, Numbers; and Bright Baby Noisy Monsters. His creativity has been recognized with numerous industry awards. Priddy lives in London with his wife Zena and their four children.

I bought this book for my daughter when she was about 6 months old. She likes books a lot, but she absolutley loved this book. She wouldn't put it down. She will look at other books for a little bit, smile, and then go on to something else. This book still gets smiles and laughter day after day over a month later. If she see this book laying around she will stop everything and go after it. I really like the big simple pictures in the book. It is eye catching for a baby without being overstimulating. The cute rhymes are also great for language development. My daughter and I both prefer the Roger Priddy books over others. We have since bought Frosty Friends, and Zoo's Who, which are both a hit. I plan to buy the 4th book, Quack, Quack for her also. All the Roger Priddy books are great and have been a hit in our house.

As a baby, my now 3-year old son loved this book and others in the series, such as Zoo's Who? and Quack! Quack!. I think I will read all of them to my younger son, now an infant, but I'm hugely disappointed that with such simple text, the author couldn't get the punctuation right.

"Rex's tail wags to and fro - he's hungry and wants you to know!" Am I missing something here, or shouldn't these two thoughts be separated by a semicolon or a period? Why is a dash being used? The same problem occurs on the page with Rollo and Smartie. On the page with the 3 dogs, there is a comma being used to separate two complete sentences. At the very least, it should be a semicolon.

I DO recognize that for babies, punctuation is not a big deal, but all of the other board books we have use correct punctuation; so too should this book. Babies become toddlers one day, and they often continue to look at their baby board books. It would be nice to know that they are getting exposed to proper grammar and punctuation.

My 11-month old LOVES (and I cannot emphasize that enough) this book. She's been absolutely delighted with it since she was about 6 months old. It is a must-read each night, as part of the bedtime routine. I adore watching her reactions to each puppy -- she coos and squeals "ahhhh!" and kisses each puppy's face, time after time. After reading it through the first time, she flips through the pages until she find her favorite puppies, Rollo and Smartie. She pats them over and over, covers them with kisses (the book is now a drooly mess -- hee hee hee), and "talks" to them. I definitely recommend this for your little one(s). The pictures, the textures, and the poetic text make this a highly engaging book. I plan to add more Priddy Books to our shelves soon.

This is a wonderful book for babies and toddlers. I bought this book for my daughter when she was 6 months old. We now keep the book in the car and the first thing she usually says after she is in her car seat is "Puppy book, Mommy."

The book contains pictures of real puppies and each puppy has an object the reader can touch and feel: puppy fur, a basket, a dog's "tongue," and bows.

As with all Roger Priddy books, this too is a wonderful book.

We've had it about a month now. She loved it from the beginning b/c she just loves dogs. She just now is reaching for the "touch" spots. It is a nice and big sized book so it's very enjoyable for babies to see the animals. A must for any baby who is interested in dogs.

This little book is very loved by my grandson so I purchased one for my granddaughter. Both love to feel the furs and other textures that go along with the text that introduces several puppies. It is a nice book to read daily for little ones.

I ordered this for my 2 year old. She loves it. It is a great book. I ordered a new one but received a VERY used copy. There were multiple pages where it was torn and ripped. Not happy that I paid for new but got used.

My 17 month old saw this at a car wash and wouldn't put it down. It is a great book I just had to have it. It keeps her occupied while I am doing dishes. I would recommend this book to everyone with toddlers.
