About the Author
Shavon Moore began writing poetry, short stories, and novels at the age of 11. She hails from Marvell, a small town in the Arkansas Delta, where she was never able to find books that featured prominent African-American characters in the local library. When she finally grew tired of searching for books with plots that truly interested her, she decided to write them herself. She would spend hours with her early standard writing equipment a notebook and a black ballpoint pen. Shavon found inspiration from the eloquent writing styles of authors like Richard Wright, Chinua Achebe and James Baldwin, but she was fascinated by the gritty life stories of authors such as Patrice Gaines and Nathan McCall. Her friends would read hundreds of pages in a matter of days and hungrily request more. Shavon received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from the University of Central Arkansas. During her time in college, Shavon's favorite pastime was attending writing conferences and conventions, where she met many of her favorite authors and honed her craft. Upon completion of her undergraduate studies, Shavon relocated to Memphis, where she currently resides.

Baby Girl takes readers into the life of seventeen year old Kyla Brown.Her grandmother and aunts instilled in her how pretty she was and she also learned how to manipulate and seduce men at an early age.Kyla loves attention and takes every opportunity she could to increase her popularity.She feels that the world revolves around her.
She then meets a young drug kingpin by the name of Shard Phaylon.Kyla soon becomes obsessed with having Shard and is determined to have him.Shard pays Kyla no attention being that he knows what she's about.Instead of listening to her gold digging family, Kyla chooses her own path and goes after Shard.Kyla will do whatever she has to do to make Shard happy so when he ask Kyla for a favor she quickly complies but realizes that she isnt the ride or die chick she thought she was.Kyla reaches her breaking point and loses her sanity and it pushes her over the edge. Baby Girl was quick and well written.My only gripe were the chapters being excessively long.The book has a total of 10 chapters with 265 pages.Other than that it was a pretty good read.
