This step stool is very nice and sturdy.

This step stool was not tall enough for my 2.5 year old to get himself onto to the toilet or reach the sink to wash his hands.

It has nice rubber gripping on the top and on the bottom.

I've been a little disappointed in this step stool. My son is 2 and just starting to be interested in potty training. One of his favorite things has been using this stool to get up on the potty by himself. However, the stool has tipped over several times causing him to fall. Last night it happened again and when he fell he got a small cut on his head. Today the stool will "disappear" from his bathroom. We won't be using it anymore.

I don't think the designers of this stool had a good grasp of the physics behind getting knocked over. The larger footprint you can make the harder it is to get knocked over (think trees roots). The base of this Bjorn stool is too narrow, such that if my son stands right on the edge it will topple over.

I compared this stool side-by-side with our other stool (a older baby trend model) and you can see the difference in size of the base. When I push down on the edge of the baby trend stool, nothing happens. When I gently push on the edge of the Bjorn step, it flips! Unfortunately, amazon doesn't sell the baby trend one and I can't find it online elsewhere, otherwise I would recommend that one instead.

UPDATE: I ordered this stool Bright Starts Step Stool, Oval and it is way better: sturdy, less expensive, and still fun colors.

I thought the price was a bit steep for a step stool, but man is it well made! This step stool will not budge, with all the rubber grips it has. It's also a lot nicer looking after it's been used a while because the black rubber on the top wears so nicely. I looked at another step stool in the BRU store when I bought this, and its rubber already looked icky just from people testing it out. This Baby Bjorn one is also very strong, even for heavier children. I'm very pleased!

This step stool is a safety hazard. The sides are not angled enough so a two-year-old can easily step too close to the edge and tip it over. In fact the stepping surface is so small that it's hard for a little guy to stay in the middle of it. And when the stool is tumbled over a little explorer can hurt himself badly when he falls onto the sharp edges of the legs.

I bought this stool for toilet training. It does not get my 36 inch tall son anywhere near the potty seat except to peer down into the toilet. I moved the step into the kitchen so he can use it to get water from the refrigerator. False advertising.

This step was terribly disappointing, the grips on the bottom don't keep the step from sliding right out from under my son's feet. The third time he stepped up it went right out from under his feet and he fell over and landed on the edge of the tub, it was awful. It seems to work okay on the carpeted surface, but I'm not really giving it much use anymore.

My 3 year old has two of these, and has used them since he started potty training at 15 months. He likes them since he can easily move them from the toilet to the sink to wash his hands. It is a good stool - basically non-slip on our tile floor - but not 100% non-slip, as he found out the hard way. He has recently begun standing to use the toilet, but he is very short, and needs the stool to reach. Unfortunately, he is still short and has to also lean his knees on the edge of the 'bowl' as he pees. He was standing there on the stool, knees against the rim of the toilet, and must have pushed a bit too hard on the edge of the stool - and the whole thing slipped on the tile floor, tipped and pitched him forward, headfirst, into the toilet. I was right there and pulled him out; he was unharmed -- but I do think parents should be aware - even a 'nonslip - "safe"' stool such as this needs to be supervised while being used by your small child. You'd think a kid would be 100% guaranteed to not slip and fall into the toilet when using a product called the "safe step" designed specifically for potty training kids - especially considering he was using it properly and not fooling around - but nothing is completely foolproof. Be careful - always watch your little ones in the bathroom!

Got this for our first child (read: bought into the idea of buying the whole BabyBjorn potty training line to match). It's only 6 inches tall so it's your basic step stool. Obviously the product description already says that so that wasn't a suprise. However, my son is 20 months, 95 percentile for height. When the faucet in the bathroom is on full-blast, this stool only allows him to get the tips of his fingers wet so I still have to pick him up to wash his hands. This doesn't allow him to get on the "adult" toilet by himself nor can his feet touch when he's sitting on the adult toilet (which: (a) is bad for assisting him w/ #2 since it's better for him to plant his feet and "brace himself" rather than dangling his legs; and (b) this requires me to hold him still while he's sitting on the potty so he doesn't fall backwards or forwards).
If you want a basic step stool there are cheaper ones out there that are just as good.
If you have a young child, this isn't the best option. Try a 2-step stool, such as the rubbermaid version, instead. For kids 4 and over this is probably fine, my nephew is close to 4 and this would probably work for him.
