5.0 out of 5 stars Tremendous Product! (and I'm NICU nurse)
Bulb and battery-powered aspirators? Don't bother. Even the best battery-powered ones available don't come close to the suction you can generate with this type of aspirator. I know, we tested them all at work. We did try the nosefrida, which uses the same principle as this one - and it's very good, but the babycomfynose has several advantages: you don't have to buy foam...

3.0 out of 5 stars Works but...
I feel like I have to suck to hard to get the mucus out. I went back to using the old blue bulb type you get at the hospital. I wish I would have chosen a different one. Maybe it's something I'm doing wrong. *shrugs*

Bulb and battery-powered aspirators? Don't bother. Even the best battery-powered ones available don't come close to the suction you can generate with this type of aspirator. I know, we tested them all at work. We did try the nosefrida, which uses the same principle as this one - and it's very good, but the babycomfynose has several advantages: you don't have to buy foam rubber filters because it uses readily available facial tissue (cellulose tissue is actually a much better filter than foam rubber - and free). And the open mesh bag it comes with allows air-drying, which is important because germs thrive on moist and warm and don't survive on dry surfaces. (As a nurse, I have some experience with these things). The babycomfynose folks got this absolutely right.

And this is actually a major problem with the Frida. They advertise the admittedly nice quality plastic case as a storage container but what comes to mind is a petri dish. What seemed like a useful feature is actually a hazard if you don't sterilize and dry the aspirator perfectly before you put it in the case - and that's very hard to do in the laboratory, let alone the bathroom or kitchen.

The instructional video on the babycomfynose website is useful. Our baby wasn't quite as docile as the one in the video, but we got just as much snot out, or more. Unbelievable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sure the concept is gross but it's effective!, May 6, 2010

This is my first review for a product that I have purchased from Amazon and due to this sucker's (no pun intended) worthiness, I felt compelled to share the love for this product! When I gave birth to my son nearly three months ago, myself, my husband and our 3 year old daughter all had colds, ergo, our son caught one too. The squeeze bulb syringe I received from the hospital just didn't do the trick in getting out the goo that was in his nose. I saw this and, on a whim, purchased it and I am GLAD that I did so. No filters to mess with, you put a piece of facial tissue in the receptacle, place the tip up to your infant's nose and suck on the mouthpiece. Ta-da! Snot! I recommend using saline solution for little noses to loosen up things before you use this. I used this with our daughter and, though she hated it (I think it was the sensation of the snot leaving her nose that freaked her out, I'm not sure), it removed ALOT of gunk so that she could breathe better. Bottom line, this device is a good investment, it's effective, you can take it apart to clean and disinfect and, most importantly, it WORKS. Advice: you will need to find what works for you in regards to effective mucous removal. My husband does strong, steady pulls whereas I prefer to use short, quick pulls when sucking on the mouthpiece. If you have any reservations about this product then check out their website for more information. I wish I would've had this for when our daughter was younger. Excellent, excellent product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Much better than the traditional bulb syringe, June 1, 2010

Once you get over the weirdness of how this product works, you'll find it works tons better than other products out there. My only advice would be to use just half a Kleenex and make sure it's placed towards the front of the aspirator (the part you put in the nostril).

As with most other reviews on this product, it works and it works well! Much better and easier then those bulb aspirators that are everywhere. I've never tried a battery operated one so I can't comment on them.
Just to let you know, nowhere in the directions does it tell you to use a filter. You need to go to the website and watch the product demo which is well-worthwhile doing and it is there that it mentions filters. Apparently, you can use this without a filter as well depending on how you feel about the subject. Certainly being able to use Kleenex type tissues is a real cost benefit. I highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yes, finally an aspirator that works!!, September 3, 2010

First off, I seldom write reviews...no time. I can't tell you how happy I was to get this Baby ComfyNose. It has made a huge difference in our household. We had no luck with the regular bulb style aspirator, but the first time I tried this, success! Our 1 year old doesn't cry and scream and actually leans towards me to help me. Such a relief to actually be able to help with her congestion and not feel like I am hurting her at the same time. This product really works.

I had the hospital nasal bulb from hospital and every time I used it, my baby would cry and cry and it would still leave my baby's nose stuffy. Finally I went on Amazon to see better nasal aspirator and came across this one. I read all the reviews and still didn't believe till I actually used it on my baby. I couldnt believe my eyes when I saw that my baby was quiet and infact enjoyed the whole process. I was so happy to see that it cleaned my baby's nose so well that I rarely have to use it now as against the old bulb which I had to use it every day. And the cleaning is so easy. Since its a transparent plastic I can make sure there are no residue left. I will definitely recommend to all my friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ear Saver! (Less Screaming, Fewer Ear Infections!), November 4, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: BabyComfyNose Nasal Aspirator (Blue) (Baby Product)
My 16-month old hates, Hates HATES the blue bulb syringe from the hospital. My husband can amuse her juuust enough to get in there and get the job done, but she screams bloody murder every time I try, and even sometimes when he does, too. Nevertheless, you HAVE to do it. If mucus stays in their noses, they can get ear infections, not to mention the trouble breathing and the snot that gets *everywhere* (we have those gross 'snail trails' all over our couch when she gets this way, not to mention our clothes) from where she wipes her nose herself. I thought about this the last time she had a cold, but hesitated, and it was gone soon anyway. But this time it is lingering, so I sprung for it. It literally got here TWO HOURS AGO, and I already love it.

When I first put the thing in her nose (it hardly goes up at all, as it's very blunt--part of the aversion to the bulb might be how far up it goes), she shied away from me. But when she turned back and let me try again, she--get this--GIGGLED. No screaming, G-I-G-G-L-I-N-G. She has now let me use it on her twice (once more before going down for her nap)...which is already more than we could usually muster in a single day. She could breathe while she nursed, and for the first time in a week, I haven't had to wipe her upper lip (and myself) afterward.

Maybe she will even take an extended nap today, finally able to breathe again!

I think this will be my new go-to baby shower gift.

I will say, don't bother trying it on yourself. *L* As adults, we subconsciously keep all that in check, either wiping, sniffing, blowing...whatever. It won't suck stuff clear out of the sinuses, but it does clean out the nostrils incredibly well.

As far as contagion is concerned, I *think* viruses have to be attached to moisture to survive for a bit (so you spread them by coughing, sneezing, sharing a drink, etc, but not simply by breathing). By that logic, the tissue filter method would then block all moisture droplets and you would get only clean air yourself. I may be wrong...I'm no doctor. But for those worried about catching what your baby has by using this, all I can say is that in her 16 months, my daughter has had 3 colds, and each time, I've been sick as well. My husband is not her primary care giver, but does love her snuggles, and he now has the same crud as we've got. My point is, if you are caring for a child who is sick, odds of staying well are not in your favor, whether you use a device like this or not. *L* If ever she is sick and I'm not, and I use this thing without catching it, I'll post an update. Clear your kid's nose, throw the tissue away, and rinse the tube and body in hot water each time...use a soapy water soak at least once a day, and let it air dry on the counter or in the bag it comes with (moisture will just let germs breed more, so let it dry out!)

Baby Comfy Nose is literally one of the BEST inventions EVER for babies. I swear by this product for my daughter's constant stuffy nose. As a mom of two with stuffy noses and constant congestion, I have literally tried EVERY nasal aspirator on the market with the hopes of providing my children with some relief. This product is the ONLY one that actually can clear their noses quickly and efficiently. Its fabulous! I just bought a second because I am afraid to not have a spare....we don't know what we would do without it! Thank you!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible, March 27, 2010
This review is from: BabyComfyNose Nasal Aspirator (Blue) (Baby Product)
The Baby Comfy Nose is incredible. Our baby was born in November--into a house with a toddler. The baby had a stuffy nose throughout the winter, and we have tried everything to clean out his nose. This device is the best thing we have ever used. One major pro is that you can see what is coming out, and a second pro: it is easy to clean. It is a blessing. Also, the size of the tip fits in the nose of our toddler, so we are able to help her clean her nose as well. The size is very safe.

I bought my Comfy nose from Health Solutions LTD for my 6 month old. She has no problem with me using Comfy nose on her. I usually would have to struggle for 5-10 min with an aspirator not to mention making sure you clean what you cant see inside the bulb. This product is well designed, convenient and very easy to clean. The great part is that you don't actually have to stick the product in your lil ones nose so you will not do any harm. I strongly recommend this for all parents to use on their babies, especially for when they are stuck with a cold.
