From the Manufacturer

The BabyKicks Hemparoo JoeyBunz are the ultimate insert for your Pocket Diapers. These bad boys are six layers of absorbent natural hemp/certified organic cotton jersey and are super thin at only 1/8 of an inch thick. But, don't let their lack of bulk deceive you. Hemp is well known for its absorbency and can hold at least 3x its weight in liquid. Whether you use one JoeyBunz during the day or two over night, the contour shape is guaranteed to be comfortable on baby and practically bulletproof. BabyKicks JoeyBunz make GREAT doublers or replacement inserts and will fit in every type and brand of diaper available including Pockets, Hybrids, All-in-2's, All-in-Ones, Fitteds, Prefolds, and even alone inside a waterproof cover.

These are fabulous. We did an absorbency test on all three (all size small). The thirsties hemp insert took 3 oz before leaking. The regular joey took 5oz. This is a DOUBLE insert, i.e. two attached ones, but very thin, only slightly thicker combined, than the single regular joey. This insert took about 9(!!!!)oz before leaking!!! It was the clear winner. Highly recommended!!!

the one thing that is GREAT about these Premium version is that you get 2 inserts attached at the top. (PS= They are only attached by a little bit of sewing that can easily be undone with scissors without damaging the insert in any way, in case you want to separate them to get 6 inserts instead of 3 doubles) The fact that the 2 inserts are not attached all around really helps with quicker drying time, i can actually line dry them overnight inside my garage in Southern California. These are very absorbent, in my experience they do absorb much better than microfleece and better than pure cotton inserts. I put the large double premium babykicks inside a size 2 kissaluvs with a size medium pull on nylon Dappi pant and my 23 lbs 1 year old can go 3.5 hours without a problem. We've never had a leak whether he's napping or out and about playing. I really do not miss disposables at all.

But when I first started cloth diapering I was using microfleece inserts than were passed down to me and they were pretty bulky and did not hold as much pee. When very wet, the microfleece would bunch up between my baby's legs. The hemp inserts are firmer and do not bunch up (I have a boy so I make sure I place the insert very high on the front almost sticking out of the diaper a tiny bit towards his belly button. The kissaluvs snaps keep the insert in place really well. For poops, bumkins flushable liners have been a life saver.

These inserts do need to be washed several times before they become absorbent (lots of natural oils in the hemp fibers prevent absorption at first.) I boiled mine for 10 minutes and then washed in very hot cycle 3 times (drying them in between) and they have been great ever since.

The microfiber inserts in my pocket diapers were loosing their fluff, leaking, and starting to get stinky at times. I wanted an insert that would be very trim while still being very absorbent. As my daughter gets bigger, she was seeming to need more absorbency and simply adding a booster made for a very bulky diaper. I love these inserts, and am about to buy enough to use them exclusively. I use them in fuzzibunz perfect fit(medium), fuzzibunz one-size and bumgenius pocket diapers(on the second rise setting). I bought size large and once washed they shrunk down to the perfect length for these diapers. They prevent leaks and make a very trim diaper.

I've been cloth diapering for nearly 5 years at this point, primarily with pocket diapers, so I've tried a *lot* of different inserts. Here's a quick summary of the primary choices in materials: microfiber inserts -- the ones which most pocket diapers come with -- tend to hold onto smells. They're also subject to 'compression leaks' -- they absorb the liquid fine, but can let it leak if there's pressure on the wet insert, which of course is almost always the case for a baby lying down while sleeping or sitting in a car seat. Microfiber works fine for lighter wetters or younger babies, but can be inadequate for heavier duty use. Bamboo is much better, and is my preferred material for the bulk of my daytime inserts; it's about half the price of hemp inserts but much more reliably leak-proof than the microfiber. Hemp, however, wins hands-down for naptime and bedtime. I pair a bamboo insert with a hemp insert for overnight, and it works reliably even for my current super-heavy-wetter.

I've compared many brands of hemp inserts over the past 5 years, and these Babykicks Joeybunz Premium are my 2nd favorite. They're considerably more durable than the related Babykicks Joeybunz (the hourglass-shaped ones with serged trim, http://www.amazon.com/BabyKicks-Piece-JoeyBunz-Inserts-Green/dp/B006CG7HZC/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1368798260&sr=8-7&keywords=hemp+joeybunz ) -- after only a year of use, the edges of the regular Joeybunz are fraying and the fabric itself is disintegrating, while the Premiums are still in nearly-new condition. The Premiums do dry faster, which is an advantage, but only a minor one compared to durability in my opinion.

OK, let me tell it to you straight: these are my favorite cloth diaper inserts of all time. If I could do my cloth diaper shopping all over again, I would buy 5-10 packs of these. THEY ARE AMAZING. (Yup, amazing enough to justify a sentence in all caps. That good.) They are the most absorbent inserts I have found anywhere. Put one or two of these puppies into your pocket diapers (or laid on top or inside of other kinds of cloth diapers) and you can go all night or for a longish trip out of the house, without a leak and without a change. Finding these felt like a little miracle in my cloth diaper world. I had thought night time cloth diapering would be hard or that going out of the house for a long time (finding a changing room can be such a hassle...). A lot of my friends gave up on cloth diapering because of these factors. If only they had found these inserts. Give them a try. A true game changer. Happy diapering... :)
