I wanted a book that let me know what's going on with me and the baby week by week as my pregnancy progresses. This book does that and way more. It starts from conception and walks you through the entire pregnancy and gives you all the basic information you need without boring you.
It covers all the things you need to know (has advice for when you're trying to conceive, nutrition, weekly progress of pregnancy, possible complications, labor and delivery, newborn care...)

I was hoping for something more comprehensive, but is readable. We haven't yet conceived, though, so my review is purely from a proactive planning standpoint. I'd looked at those "what to expect when you want to be expecting" kinds of books, and the reviews for those were bad, so I tried this one and the Mayo Clinic one. So far, this one is better. But it's still not giving me more than common sense information.

I purchased this book after my ob recommended it and I love it. When I was pregnant with my first I read the "typical book" women normally get when they are expecting. Now that I'm on my second pregnancy I'm over half way though "From Preconcetion to Birth" and couldn't be more thrilled to read this book over the "typical book". There are colored photos, colored diagrams of the fetus week by week, moms and dads points of view, and each turn of the page seems to be a different topic so I'm not getting bored reading the same ol' black and white monotone pages. This book mimics the babycenter.com website. I highly recommend this book for to any couple whose trying to get pregnant or is pregnant.

Love that the book gives information on a weekly basis describing changes that are taking place in my body. The book also has a chapter with specific topics soon-to-be mom think about (can I workout...what medications can i take...foods to eat, etc.). I wish the book told me what I should be doing on a weekly basis to prepare for my little one...but the intent of this book is more on informing.

Got this for my friend when she was pregnant and the first year book. The site is amazing and glad they have a book to help with what's going on with me and my growing baby. Has side notes of dad's point of views and new mom's. Defiantly draws you into it than reading a book that's boring, with black and white pictures. I recommend this book!

My husband and I had so much fun reading this book weekly while I was pregnant. This book gives you not only an overview of the development of the fetus but tells the mother what to expect each week and how to prepare. There is also information on labor and delivery as well as recovery. Definitely recommend this!

I have checked this book out of the library before and found it really informative. It has a far less "textbook" feel than What to Expect. It is full of actual pictures and easy to read chapters about what we are going thru. I find it is a nice companion to What to Expect...more real world.
