Murrian's best so far,

This gorgeous book features just one model (except once or twice): Murrian's wife, Nancy. She has a native grace and beauty that come through in every picture, enhanced by Murrian's obvious affection for her. Most of these pictures are nudes, and certainly not for anyone shy about genital details. They range from charming honeymoon pictures of the teenage bride, through a wide range of elegant poses and generally romantic settings, apparently covering many of their ten years of marriage. Her erotic potential simmers behind every photograph, and boils over one set of photos early on, then again in the final set that celebrates the Murrians' intimacy together. Even those photos of Nancy and a startling sex toy manages to avoid hard-core vulgarity, at least to my eye.
It's a beautiful book, and a charming tribute to a woman that the photographer obviously loves. -- wiredweird

beautiful, sexy photography,

Many collections of nudes are full of dull art-school studies, black&white abstractions that convey little of the electric sexuality of the female form. Other collections try for sexy in the way "men's magazines" do, tawdry but quickly uninteresting in the age of the Internet.
By contrast, Babydoll is in a category all its own. The sole subject is the photographer's gorgeous wife, and the sexual tension and desire of that relationship are reflected throughout. Imagine if a skilled photographer decided to take hot photos of the woman he was really into, to show just how amazing she was to him... this is the result: an oustanding collection of erotic nudes, composed skillfully, capturing the chemistry and desirability of that woman. The only negative is the small format. The hardbound book is only a little larger than a trade paperback, definitely not coffee-table sized. Ideally I'd want the pages to be about 25% larger than they are. I'm both an amateur photographer and a connoisseur of beautiful female forms in all types of media-- these are best shot, most electric, sexiest nudes I've seen. (and it turns out the photographer has a web site, if this collection isn't enough!) I've been ambivalent about this photographer's earlier works, but Babydoll reflects a new level of his art. Highly recommended.

flawless exotic,

Richard Murrian's muse is perfection embodied. His model exudes the natural/erotic with such subtle power. Her skill at posing and Murrian's talent with his camera come together to compose an unbelievably beautiful portrait of an enchantingly sublime goddess. My only criticism, and it is a minor one, is that the images would have benefitted from being slightly larger. Other than that, the book is exceptional.

I have admired Richard's photography, but most of my opinion was drawn from excerpts, and what I'd seen and from his first book (which I own as well). This book was a lot more erotic and explicit than I was expecting. While not a prude, it is not nearly as mainstream artistic as I was expecting, and significantly more adult-oriented and liberal erotica than anticipated. The work is still well done with some stunningly beautiful shots, and he is clearly a very talented photographer. However, this small book might not be placed in the most accessible portion of the art nude shelf when Mom comes over.

Powerful Intimate Nude Photography!,
This review is from: Babydoll (Hardcover)
Richard Murrian is famous for his work with young, pretty, Hamiltonesque models. His previous two books were brilliant studies in youthful beauty captured with amazing, artistic flair. But in this third book, Baby Doll, he turns toward more familiar terrain - to his beautiful wife, Nancy Murrian. And it turns out that he could not have cast a more perfect subject. Nancy is absolutely radiant.
Anyone who has ever met Nancy could not fail to see that she was a beautiful woman. And charming too. But the magic that she and Richard create in Baby Doll transcends that, in an almost unbelievable way. More than that, their trust in and love for each other prompted their documenting material that is much more intimate and sexual than anything Richard has ever done before. Viewers will be held spellbound as Richard captures every inch of Nancy's tender, naked form and then moves into secret places that only a husband would know. It took an enormous amount of trust to create this work; and an even greater sense of courage to publish it. Both Richard and Nancy should stand as an inspiration to artists the world over.

Don't lend this to any of your buddies. You won't get it back. I agree that the only thing that would have been an improvement would have been a bigger book, to make the pictures larger.

Very sexy, very well done photos. Obviously this man has a hot wife and she allows him to take photos. Don't we all wish that. Well if you decide to buy, you won't be dissappointed.

Babydoll is a small sized book containing for a large part quality photographs. The book is more then only pictures, it contains small hints to the life of both photographer and the photographee (his beautiful wife).
Point of critique 1: It is a pocket sized book containing naked pictures, the small size makes them less suitable as a coffeetable book. Point of critique 2: Some pictures are clearly not fit for printing in a book and should have been left out or replaced. Unique selling point!!!: The photographs are not just photographs, in contrast to other photobooks this book manages to capture the love the photographer feels for his wife. This is in my opinion a unique selling point compared to most photobooks and clearly makes up for the pictures that were not fit for printing. It could even be said that these unfit pictures add character to the book and enhance that 'loving feeling' the photographs are meanth to give you. Actually recommending this book is hard as I cannot think of any uses, this is in my opinion true for all small sized photo books. If you like erotica displayed in a loving form then you should surely try this book as you will not easily find it somewhere else. If you look for a book to leave on your coffee table look for a larger book.

True love,
By Mark Olberding (Iowa, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Babydoll (Hardcover)
This is one of the hottest books I have seen in a long time. The love and affection the photographer has for his subject comes through loud and clear somehow making what would be just ordinary shots of a good looking nude woman into something truely special.
