Product Description

Scent Name: Fragrance Free | Size: 8.45 Ounce (Pack of 2)

Our Baby-Safe Standards

Baby-safe is how we create, test, and improve our products. Between idea and reality we talk to parents, doctors, regulatory experts and scientists. We learn what we should and shouldn't do to make it safe and great. How does the product feel and smell (or doesn't)? How does it work and why? What ingredients will make it better? What which are unsafe or unnecessary? How can we can make it easy or fun and economical to use? We test and refine it. And once it's on the shelf it's never off our radar. We review ingredients, the latest studies, listen to your feedback and we're on the lookout for new and better ways to improve performance or safety. Just like our babies - we never sleep.

Babyganics Crib Notes

  • Products are offered in Fragrance Free and fragranced versions
  • Our fragrances are all-natural
  • Clinically tested

Our Do’s And Our Don’ts

It goes without saying (but we'll say it anyway) we don't use toxic or harmful ingredients. But there's no generally accepted standard for "natural" and "safe" so we've come up with our own. All our ingredients are vetted by experts as safe to use around babies. Our "never use" ingredients come from Natural Product Standards, EU and US lists of ingredients to avoid (parabens, phthalates, known toxins, endocrine disruptors, carcinogens, etc.). Then the real parent test: "Is this something we'd confidently use around or on our own babies?" If it's on the shelf, the answer is "Yes." In the end, the best way for all of us to help babies develop and thrive is to focus on the yeses. How can we add value to you and your baby's world? How can we better nourish, protect, soothe, or clean? The answers are in ingredients like NeoNourish and Orange Blossom in our night time formulas to relax your baby. It's in soothing, calming ingredients like Colloidal Oatmeal, Olive Oil, Shea Butter, Aloe and Vitamin E. Our ‘do's’ mean our products aren't just safe, they're gentle, nourishing, moisturizing, cleansing, soothing, rash-reducing, healing, stain-removing, grease-cutting, clean-rinsing, broad spectrum, super-protective, absorbent and a really good value. So remember the don'ts - But don't forget the do's.

Our Testing

We test every product and ingredient for safety and efficacy (Does it rinse? Clean? Protect? Moisturize? Heal?) and our preservatives (Will it last, resist contamination, and is it safe?). We test for skin irritation (Human Repeat Insult Patch Testing if you want to get all technical) and eye irritation. We do SPF, Water Resistance & Broad Spectrum tests for our sun care products and Stability and Micro Contamination tests on all our formulas. That’s the short list. If you want to satisfy your inner chemistry nerd call our toll free number. Plenty of geeks on our end are standing by to talk!

NeoNourish

As part of our ongoing commitment to add yeses to our products we’ve created an ingredient blend that's special enough to get its own little shout out. This 100% natural, cold-pressed seed oil blend is specifically made for the unique needs of babies’ 'work in progress' skin. It's a combination of oils from the seeds of Black Cumin, Tomato, Sunflower, Cranberry and Red Raspberry. They’re specially balanced to supplement your baby's natural skin defenses against the environment. You’ll find it in our products that come in the most direct contact with your baby’s skin. From lotions to bath products and even in our diapers. (Heck, we're tempted to put it all over ourselves.).

I like that there's no alcohol, and it has a light, pleasant scent.
Leeshie
I love this hand sanitizer because it doesn't smell funny or leave a funny residue on your hands like some of the other hand sanitizers.
G. Ortiz
It works great, no fragrance, and doesn't dry out your hands like most sanitizers that have alcohol.

After reading some frightening reviews here about the active ingredient being toxic, I went to the manufacturer's website to look for proof that their products are safe. When you check out the BabyGanics website, there are a lot of "warm and fuzzy" words making you feel like their products, developed by two dads, are super-safe. If you click on the link that says "Meet Our Trusted Advisors," you find one doctor listed. I didn't find anything on the website that made me forget about the reviews siting credible references that indicated the main ingredient (Benzalkonium Chloride 0.1%) is toxic. I Googled it myself in hopes of finding proof that it was safe to use. What I found is that benzalkonium chloride is also used as a processing aid on lettuce and carrots. It is approved by the FDA for that use. It's also used in many shampoos and cosmetics.

Our family has tried the BabyGanics hand sanitizer out for a couple weeks now, and we actually like the texture of it, and the way it doesn't tear your skin up by drying it out. Better than that, though, is that you don't pass out from the alcohol smell (no alcohol in it) or the fragrance (no fragrance in it). A family member is an asthmatic, and other hand sanitizers have caused problems before. It is a relief that we found one that doesn't bother him.

So our conclusion is that we are going to continue to use it, on a limited basis. We keep it in our vehicle for use on the road, and we are quite satisfied with it. Also, when we have "hospital days," where we are in doctor's offices and hospitals all day, we are happy to have BabyGanics with us to try to keep all the other germs away.

I bought this product to use for hand santizing when interacting with infants. It smells great and santizes as indicated. However, it is *not* benzlkonium chloride free. Benzlkonium chloride may have safety issues.

I am of two minds about this product. On the one hand, I think people overuse anti-microbial cleansers and as a society we are likely to pay for that in the long run. Further, other reviewers here have noted that the particular toxins in this product kill fish and may be mutagenic.

That said, we put it out at kids' birthday parties, as when you have dozens of young children running around, and eating food with their fingers, parents appreciate seeing it. And for those worried about allergic reactions, I can report only that nobody in my household has found this stuff to be at all irritating.

I prefer this hand sanitizer over one like Purell because it's easier on my hands. I have a 2-month old and go thru a lot of hand sanitizer!

This is a very gentle and effective hand sanitizer with a light and pleasant smell. On the product alone, I very much enjoyed it; it gets your hands clean and fresh quickly. If you're used to alcohol-based hand sanitizers then you need to be careful of how much product you use. A little goes a long way with this product. If you use too much then your hands will be a soppy mess, since there's no alcohol to evaporate.

In addition to killing germs, this product moisturizes lightly and has a pleasant citrus fragrance that's not overbearing.

I also appreciate that this is a cruelty-free product that's made without parabens, phthalates, toxins, and synthetic fragrances. Some consumers care about that and some don't.

Overall, I would recommend this product to anyone looking for an effective and environmentally-friendly hand sanitizer. Just be mindful of using too much product.

My problem with most hand sanitizers is that after using them, my hands feel gross, like I still want to wash them. This stuff leaves hands feeling clean, with no coating - I don't feel the need to constantly wipe off my hands after using it. I keep a bottle in the car and use it frequently. One bottle will last a LONG time. And it's alcohol free so I don't worry about putting it on my kids' hands, either. Two mom-thumbs way up!

I love this hand sanitizer because it doesn't smell funny or leave a funny residue on your hands like some of the other hand sanitizers.

I mean why do they even have a residue if they're made from alcohol? Just saying...

It does take longer to dry your hands but I prefer it hands down to any of the others I that I've tried working at a school surrounded by germs, I've tried a number of hand sanitizers.....

I did a little bit research about this ingredient. It's very very toxic. Look for yourself below at the wiki safety summary.

ADBAC is highly toxic to fish (LC50 = 280 'g ai/L), very highly toxic to aquatic invertebrates (LC50 = 5.9 'g ai/L), moderately toxic to birds (LD50 = 136 mg/kg-bw), and slightly toxic to mammals (LD50 = 430 mg/kg-bw).[5] Benzalkonium chloride solutions of 10% or more are toxic to humans, causing irritation to the skin and mucosa, and death if taken internally.[6]

Several studies have identified allergic reactions to benzalkonium chloride by some individuals[7][8][9][10][11][12][13] but several studies have cast doubt on its reputation for other negative health effects.[14][15] It is still widely used in eyewashes, nasal sprays, hand and face washes, mouthwashes, spermicidal creams, and in various other cleaners, sanitizers, and disinfectants. Manufacturers of over-the-counter artificial tears and eye washes became concerned about chemical sensitivity from long-term daily use and have in some products substituted EDTA as a preservative. Some have packaged eye drops in single-use vials with no preservative[16] for sensitive eyes. There has also been concern that long-term use of benzalkonium as a preservative in nasal sprays may cause swelling of mucosa and lead to rhinitis medicamentosa. Although some studies have found no correlation between use of benzalkonium chloride in nasal sprays and rhinitis medicamentosa,[17] others have found benzalkonium chloride in oxymetazoline nasal spray to worsen rhinitis medicamentosa in healthy volunteers after both long-term use[18][19] and short-term use.[20]

Contact lens solutions typically contain 0.002% to 0.01% benzalkonium chloride.[21] K. C.
