This review is from: Babylon 5: Thirdspace (Audio CD)
This album belongs to the long series of soundtrack scores for "Babylon 5" science-fiction TV series. Many shows have waited long enough to have its own, unique sound track released in a fancy series of Sonic Images, a label founded by Christopher Franke, a long-standing member of Tangerine Dream, in fact responsible for its tremendous success in the 1970s.

Along the proper series, Franke released full-featured albums, featuring more vibrant tunes from the series, all mixed together. This is in fact what you get with this album, along with four others like this one. "Babylon 5" feature sound tracks are quite similar to each other, so it might be a good idea to buy full-length albums if you want to get an idea what this music is all about.

"Thirdspace" includes music from 1998 - most of the time it's spacey, slow mudisal landscape, where electronic isntruments are interlaced with orchestral thundering waves. This is the ultimate experience of this series - you float with soft, yet dark electronic music, you meditatize yourself,a nd then the orchestra pulls you out of this sooner than you might blink.

It's a good album, although perhaps it's not the one you will listen to frequently. Certainly it's not representative for Christopher Franke
