Without a doubt, these are two of the finest episodes in Babylon 5's fifth - and last - season. "Movements of Fire and Shadow" opens with President Sheridan (Bruce Boxleitner) telling Captain Lochley (Tracy Scoggins) that he has authorized the White Star fleet to engage Centauri warships attacking other Interstellar Alliance warships and merchant vessels. He has a tense meeting with Drazi, Brakiri and Narn military leaders, ordering them not to attack Centauri Prime. And he sends Delenn (Mira Furlan) on a perilous mission to Minbar, hoping she will persuade the Grey Council to release technical data on the White Star fleet to the Earth Alliance, so the humans can begin constructing new warships for the White Star fleet. Meanwhile, Dr. Franklin (Richard Biggs) and Lyta Alexander (Patricia Tallman) embark on their own hazardous mission to the Drazi home world, hoping to find the remains of Centauri killed during battles with the Drazi. Instead, they make an unexpected discovery, pointing to the recently departed Shadows and their still present allies, most notably the Drakh. On Centauri Prime Londo Mollari (Peter Jurasik) makes a fateful, terrifying discovery; he learns whom has been responsible for attacks on Alliance shipping. Just in time for a combined Alliance fleet to begin bombing his home world, who are acting contrary to Sheridan's orders. And soon he fulfills his own terrible destiny, as the next Centauri emperor. In "The Fall of Centauri Prime" Londo prepares to ascend the throne and comes to terms with what the war has cost - in lives and property lost - to his people. A terrible price which his beloved Republic is about to pay to the Interstellar Alliance and the Drakh, who are the real power behind Londo's throne. Both episodes are rich with the excellent acting, writing and political intrigue which have placed Babylon 5 light years ahead of its "Star Trek" competition.
