Heavy, unique and strangely addictive, March 24, 2004
In a world full of nu-metal bands that all sound and look the same, and base their success off of music videos, it's refreshing to see Skindred emerge into the rock scene. Though they're not big in the U.S., and probably never will be with their current label, they are still one of today's most creative bands, blending elements of hardcore, punk, trip-hop, and, wait for it...reggae! Frontman Benji's vocals add a funky Jamaican/Carribean twist to the music, and his lyrics are inetersting as well, especially when he uses his native dialects. In a way, Skindred is almost like Pantera meets Bob Marley, with a stronger atmosphere to their music. "Set It Off" gives the album a nice start, offering a catchy, groovy beat with the strangest lyrics ever. Actually, I'll be honest, any track off this album will get you dancing, it's the nature behind their music. "Nobody" slows things down a bit, but is probably one of my favorites. The title track is awesome, along with "Selector", both contributing to the album's flow. My two favorites, however, are "Pressure" and "Falling Down" because they have the most clever melodies and the catchiest rhythms. Honestly, there isn't one weak song on here (though I don't listen to "The Fear" much, way too hiphop for my tastes. Basically, if you like heavy metal, and are sick of boring bands like Hatebreed and Mudvayne, Skindred is sure to please.

a very good mix, June 16, 2005
skindred is a band im glad i got to know. Being a fan of rock and raggae music, im pleased to say this band pleases both of my tastes: it does a perfect job in blending groovy rastafarian raggae with punching new metal. This guys prove themselves to be excellent musicians, and benji presents himself as a singer who is caplable of blending jamaican reggae melodies with demolishing metal screaming (Listen to: Danger you know that the fire is burning-didingdiding.... on babylon). I especially enjoy the basslines (given the fact that dan programs his bass himself). This is a great cd to party or dance to: it will simply give you a very good mood.
Very good music. I recommend this cd not only to reggae or metal fans, but to all people who are personally influenced and connected to music. Enjoy.

The Next Great?, June 26, 2006
Skindred could possibly be the most diverse band yet to enter the hard rock scene. The band started in the UK and I very much look forward to seeing them make it big in America. Skindred/Babylon combines elements of Reggae, Metal, and Punk. My favorite songs would have to be Falling Down, Nobody, and The Fear. Falling Down is one of the weirdest songs in that it starts out really mellow, then converts into really hardcore sounds. Nobody just has a great melody and chorus, while The Fear has the sounds of a classic Reggae CD. There is some confusion about the whole hip-hop thing, and to people who say Skindred adds it to their music, I say: "Have any of you ever listened to a Reggae CD?" I don't mean to sound offensive, but Hip-Hop has a lot of Reggae elements, not the other way around. I think Skindred definitely has it in them to be one of the greatest bands of all time, right up there with Metallica, Slipknot, KoRn, etc. They just need to land a good record deal and (I have heard rumors they haven't released Babylon in America yet) release their next CD in North America. I am looking forward to seeing Skindred Cds hit the shelves in Colorado. Definitely one of my favorite groups.
