First you will wonder why I give this 4/5 --- 7 original songs and 2 covers songs does not a CD make in 2010..
The songs that are here.... Crazy - A small riff at beginning will make you think wild child - but that quickly exits as the songs drives... This is about politicians not women -- This song is a great beginning to a solid effort. Die Another Day - Great song - good transition to chorus -- this is classic WASP sound Babylon's Burning -- lyrically clever -- Blackie has a way at showing history repeating itself.. Video for this is on youtube and is cool as well -- positive message hidden behind tons of meaning.. Burn - Deep Purple Cover that I could do without Into the fire - another GREAT Song - with a great chorus and great hidden meaning in the lyrics -- HAUNTING!! Thunder Red -- a solid CD track that sound from something from modern wasp - not the best track but a good listen.. Seas on Fire -- a driving song which is only good because it is new... Good not great Godless Run - potentially the best ballad that WASP has created. This is such an epic song it is worth the price of the CD -- the driving haunting sound like only Blackie can deliver it... Did I say I love this song? "I did not run to you" later "I will not run from you" meaning our friend blackie is starting to see that believing in "Something" means giving it a chance (be it God, Life, Love, etc)... I don't think it means that Blackie has finished his search... Promised Land - Chuck Berry song - Elvis sang it - sounds like blackie had fun with this -- I think if Burn and promised land were BONUS tracks I would be ok with it - but this has very little place with this CD ... it does not make any sense to have this on it... So I guess I just like Blackie's writing so much that the cover tracks throw it for me -- This is not as solid as Dominator, but does rock. Godless Run is one of the best songs Blackie has ever written and the CD is worth it for Five Awesome Songs - 2 decent fillers and 2 cover songs... A pretty good effort but I am still waiting for another Crimson - I know he can do it!!! This is a solid addition to any WASP fan's collection for sure...

Love it!,
This review is from: Babylon (Audio CD)
"Babylon" is W.A.S.P.'s most recent album released in 2009. I've heard people grumbling that there are only 9 songs on the album, only 7 of which are originals (2 are cover songs). While this is true, I have always preferred quality over quantity, and that is definitely the case here! Blackie Lawless is the only original member of W.A.S.P. remaining, but he is the driving creative force and the mastermind behind the band's songs and image. Every song included has an amazing amount of energy: "Crazy" is the opener and starts things off right. It has pounding drums, tight bass line, and rocking guitars. "Live To Die Another Day" is one of the catchiest songs I've heard in a while. Blackie nails the chorus and the song simply rocks. The title track, Babylon's Burning" features some killer double bass drumming that will blow your mind. "Burn" is a rockin' cover of the Deep Purple classic and keeps the pace moving. The last song is an up tempo version of Chuck Berry's "Promised Land" and leaves you wanting more. If you're a fan of the band from their early days, or if you like your music hard rocking with deep lyrics that really make you think, you can't go wrong here.

wasp babylon, I can't believe it's wasp,

Blackie Lawless was one of the reasons I repented from secular music, now, Blackie's back and I've gotta say better than ever. Every song and lyrics are far better than what I've heard in the past. From Animal, F*** Like A Beast to Promised Land, they have come a long way. Luke 5:32 "I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." W.A.S.P. heard the calling. Incredible music, much better than any old W.A.S.P. album.
