BABYMUGS! is produced by two new mothers who have learned the first-hand joys and frustrations a new infant can bring. Forever in search of something to please their babies, it became obvious to them that their children enjoyed other babies' "mugs!" Since none of them were Old Mother Hubbard living in her shoe with passels of youngsters, they decided the next best source for faces would be a video with images of other babies laughing, gurgling and smiling.

Not what I expected,

My 16-month old absolutely loves watching other babies and especially the baby in the sun on Teletubbies. With that in mind, I first purchased the video "Baby Faces" which was an instant hit with her! "Baby Faces" shows babies dancing, bathing, eating, etc., (with kid songs in the background) and the action really keeps her attention. When I bought "Baby Mugs", I thought it would be another great addition to her video library, but was I wrong! She never gave the video more than five minutes of total attention time. I think its because all you see on this video are the faces of babies. Its like looking at snapshots of babies sitting still. Also, the background music (jazz) didn't capture her attention. "Baby Mugs" does show cute pictures of babies, and although I like the background music myself, it just doesn't work for my daughter. The video might be stimulating for a much younger baby because it is so mellow.

Best for very little babies!,

My daughter loved this video when she was very small. She was always very drawn to other babies and this video captivated her. I agree with the other reviewers that the video does not offer much for the older infant (perhaps > 6 months). If the makers of this video ever "update" it, I think another music choice, or, even better, just the sounds of the babies themselves would be more welcome (at least by the mommies and daddies).

Uneven,

I bought this video for my son recently, when he was just over three months old. When he's in the mood, he seems intrigued by it, though he was a little overwhelmed by all the images at first. I would recommend it to try for young babies, with two cautions/complaints: there are sections where it's not even moving video, but just still shots of baby faces (this is silly and boring). And two, my baby got frightened and started crying when, about two thirds of the way through, they started unnecessary quick-cut editing that has faces popping up, zipping off screen, etc. Perhaps not for sensitive younger babies.
