Not what I expected,
By A Customer
This review is from: Babymugs! [VHS] (VHS Tape)
My 16-month old absolutely loves watching other babies and especially the baby in the sun on Teletubbies. With that in mind, I first purchased the video "Baby Faces" which was an instant hit with her! "Baby Faces" shows babies dancing, bathing, eating, etc., (with kid songs in the background) and the action really keeps her attention. When I bought "Baby Mugs", I thought it would be another great addition to her video library, but was I wrong! She never gave the video more than five minutes of total attention time. I think its because all you see on this video are the faces of babies. Its like looking at snapshots of babies sitting still. Also, the background music (jazz) didn't capture her attention. "Baby Mugs" does show cute pictures of babies, and although I like the background music myself, it just doesn't work for my daughter. The video might be stimulating for a much younger baby because it is so mellow.

Best for very little babies!,

My daughter loved this video when she was very small. She was always very drawn to other babies and this video captivated her. I agree with the other reviewers that the video does not offer much for the older infant (perhaps > 6 months). If the makers of this video ever "update" it, I think another music choice, or, even better, just the sounds of the babies themselves would be more welcome (at least by the mommies and daddies).

Uneven,

I bought this video for my son recently, when he was just over three months old. When he's in the mood, he seems intrigued by it, though he was a little overwhelmed by all the images at first. I would recommend it to try for young babies, with two cautions/complaints: there are sections where it's not even moving video, but just still shots of baby faces (this is silly and boring). And two, my baby got frightened and started crying when, about two thirds of the way through, they started unnecessary quick-cut editing that has faces popping up, zipping off screen, etc. Perhaps not for sensitive younger babies.

This is awful!!,

I have purchased several baby videos, and this is the worst one I have ever seen. The music is just awful -- it starts out with something that sounds like the Allman Brothers -- not very baby-friendly! I had to mute it to continue. The quality of the picture is so awful that it soon didn't matter what music was playing -- it would not hold my son's attention because the picture was so bad and non-stimulating. Save your money, stay away from this video, and look into the Brainy Baby series -- those are wonderful.

I bought this video today and am not one to take the time to write a reveiw, but this video was so horrible that I want to be sure that no other parent spends any money for it.The music is not child freindly, some of the babies are actually frightening!!I thought this would be like baby faces video(which I could not find) I was shocked when I saw the poor quality of this video. I think I could have made a better one!!

Disappointing!,

My 9 month old daughter wasn't interested in this video. I think there wasn't enough activity and the music was less than captivating. I thought she would enjoy it as she loves and is totally enthralled by Baby Mozart, Baby Einstein, and the Brainy Baby videos. But like I said she wasn't taken with Babymugs and I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would, which admittedly is a factor considering the fact that my daughter can watch the same video over and over and over...

I was given the tape as a gift and my 3 month old loves it. She does not stop smiling at it. She never smiles at the TV unless this tape is in. For 10 bucks it's worth a peek.

My 8 month old loves the baby in the sun on the TV show "Teletubbies." She coos and laughs when the baby coos and laughs. I thought this video would be the same concept, but you only see the babies and don't hear them. It was a disappointment to me and my daughter was not interested at all.

Found this gem at Goodwill. It was exactly what I expected. I don't know what I'm going to do with it but I'm glad I have it just in case.
