Great fun for toddlers and adults!,
This review is from: The Baby's Catalogue (The Baby's Catalogue Series) (Paperback)
This charming picture book is loads of fun for both toddlers and their parents. It teaches category concepts (foods, pets, toys, accidents, etc.) by following five very different families through a day any parent of a two year old won't have trouble imagining. The many imbedded sight gags keep the older generation on their toes without detracting from the books' value for the little ones.

A simple compendium of baby's everyday,
By Megan "Megan" (Massachusetts) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Baby's Catalogue (Board book)
The Ahlbergs said that they wrote this after seeing how fascinated their daughter was with the catalogs that arrived in the mail. The concept of this book is very simple: we go through a baby's day, house, and life and there are five different families that baby can choose from. A page of mommies, a page of daddies, a page of high chairs, a page of dinners, a page of pets... and a whole two-page spread of "accidents" which is guaranteed to make you smile.
I loved this book as a child, and was so happy to find it for my daughter. The only words are the page headings, so it's a great "read" for the pre-literate.

My children have adored this book, which is clever, witty and - unlike many children's books - endlessly readable. I can't believe that it's out of print! What a shame.

I bought this for my 2 year-old and it is fantastic. The illustrations follow several families through the typical activities of the day and each is a bit different. The text is limited and the layout is simple but very nice. My child loves to look at it and it holds her attention for quite a significant period of time. We can also read it together; we talk about what is happening in the various pictures, how families are different, identify objects, etc. A VERY good purchase and probably one of my favorite board books!

I got this for my daughter on her 21st birthday because it was her favorite before she could read or talk. She loved the baby illustrations. We went through this book so many times she used to say "no, no, no" in anticipation before we turned the page where the baby spills the contents of Momma's purse. Glad to see this is still around. Share this with your 1, 2, 3 or 4 year old. Wonderful.
