5.0 out of 5 stars Great Beginner Bible
My daughter received this book as a gift. She has enjoyed the book immensely with it's vivid colors, see through page cutouts, & cute animals. Each story is very short - perfect for short attention spans. There is an activity for the child to do after each little story. (i.e. Pretend you're the princess rocking the baby gently in your arms.)

For added interest, I ask my daughter to point out the butterfly, swan, Jesus, apples, etc. I highly recommend this book as a gift for a new mom.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book for toddlers .... easy to understand., July 31, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Baby's First Bible (The First Bible Collection) (Board book)
I purchased this book for a friend's new baby and was surprised by the cute handle with raised artwork of animals and flowers. Each page contains a high-level version of fun and important stories in the Old and New Testaments. Also, each story is accompanied by a parent/child activity to increase the learning experience. This is a must buy gift or for your own children.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!!!, January 15, 2006
This review is from: Baby's First Bible (The First Bible Collection) (Board book)
This is an excellent first Bible for baby. It is simple and with GREAT pictures! You can discuss with your child and add on as your child's comprehension and attention-span allow. My toddler and I have had much spontaneous dialogue about what's going on in the pages of this book. The pictures are PERFECT to allow that dialogue--full of activity and bright and colorful pictures of Bible characters and the Ark, etc. Jesus in particular is shown in a way which makes him stand out in the mind of a child. In some other Bibles it can be difficult for young kids to distinguish between the different characters. While some may dislike the simple wording, I really think it's a GREAT starting place for very young children and does not overwhelm. This is a FIRST Bible, not a second Bible. It was a wonderful way for us to introduce these stories to our child very early in life--UNDER AGE 2. After age 2, we prefer The Beginner's Bible My Favorite Bible Stories as told by Karyn Henley. I do believe, however, that The Beginner's Bible we'll use at age 2 is recommended for age 4-8. At age 4, we hope to switch to (or use in addition), the Word & Song Children's Bible by O'Connor Elkins and Tim Stephen. It includes the Bible (with quite a few stories/pages) AND includes 5 CASSETTES. It is pretty comprehensive for the age group 4-8.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect!, April 11, 2000

This review is from: Baby's First Bible (The First Bible Collection) (Board book)
My husband and I were asked to be godparents to my best friend's first baby. I wanted to give the baby a Bible for her Christening that she could begin enjoying almost immediately. I found just what I was looking for in this first Bible. The pictures are bright, the cutouts add to the uniqueness, the summaries of the stories are short and simple, and the handle is just right for little hands. I was also impressed with the way the writer involves the child and the reader. It's perfect!

5.0 out of 5 stars Bright friendly and very sweet., April 6, 1999

This is a very good first bible that I was very impressed with. The small activities suggested on most pages draw the parent in as well as the child. The handle makes it a super book to carry into church. It will go down very well with our bible based carers and baby/toddler group.

1.0 out of 5 stars Falls apart quickly, November 3, 2010
This review is from: Baby's First Bible (The First Bible Collection) (Board book)
The book itself is fine. The illustrations are very colorful and engaging. I thought the text left something to be desired...it was much too brief...but I did like the activities with each story. My main problem with the book is that we use it only for church on Sundays...but it fell apart after a couple of months. My toddler is not rough with the book - it received normal use only on Sundays. So, maybe after a half hour of use each Sunday for maybe 10 Sundays, the book binding starts breaking. Now the whole book has come apart. Very poorly made.

My daughter loves this book! We're buying our second copy because the first one fell apart from being looked at so often. The illustrations are adorable and it highlights Bible stories in a way toddlers can appreciate. I highly recommend it!

2.0 out of 5 stars a bit disappointed, June 21, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Baby's First Bible (The First Bible Collection) (Board book)
I thought about getting one as a baptism gift, but I wasn't too impressed with it...the little animals are kind of cute, but the text leaves something to be desired; each story gets a short blurb and that's about it. It's a Reader's Digest book; that should have warned me. I know toddlers have short attention spans, but not THAT short. My niece is nine months old and likes to be read longer, sustained pieces.
