5.0 out of 5 stars Every Nursery Rhyme
I loved nursery rhymes when I was a kid, and with the changing curriculums in schools, nursery rhymes are being taken out. This is a great book that has every nursery rhyme included.

2.0 out of 5 stars Sent it back
The illustrations are sometimes scary and some of the nursery rhymes selected are scary too. I sent it back.

I purchased this book for my own children a few years ago and have treasured reading it with them as babies and toddlers. I loved it so much I wanted to share it with a friend who just had her own first baby. It's got classic nursery rhymes and lovely, fun, soothing illustrations. It's a lifetime keeper!

5.0 out of 5 stars Me and my baby love this book!, June 27, 2008

This book is just priceless. My little toddler adores it, and she knows so many rhymes out of this book - we sing them together. If you don't know the music to the songs, I would recommend to get a CD too (one of the Mother Goose collections, Amazon has it - just search for MOTHER GOOSE).

5.0 out of 5 stars Brings back memories, September 12, 2007

This is a great book for a new parent to start reading immediately that way you can learn all the nursery rhymes before your baby is old enough to sing them as well. My son just looks at me crazy (he's 3 months old) when I sing them to him. Its great!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very nice book, May 12, 2007
This review is from: The Baby's Lap Book (Hardcover)
It is a book full of nursery rhymes and it is very nicely illustrated. My son loves when I read him from this book and he looks at the pictures. However, I do not think it's best for babies since it's illustrated in pastel colors and as far as I know babies have hard time seeing these colors. I think it's a great book for toddlers though.

5.0 out of 5 stars Seminal book on the three Americas, February 22, 2007
Ribeiro -former Minister of Education to Joao Goulart- presents in this fundamental book an thorough study on the evolution of all American countries. The book describes the evolution of three main groups: the Transplanted countries -where aborigin population was replaced by European settlers that brought their own cultures without mixing with them-: US, Canada, Chile, Uruguay and Argentina. The second group is defined as The New People, integrated by those countries where African slaves became a major component of the original population -Caribbean,Central America, Colombia, Venezuela, Brazil and Southern US-. The third group of countries called by Ribeiro The Testimony People is formed by those countries where aborigin culture and languages remained alive and relatively relevant alongside European: Mexico, Peru and Bolivia.

Ribeiro explains how these different ethnic and cultural origins and population processes affected and defined different traits and -more importantly- each group societal success and performance.

For those interested in the Americas, a must read
