MY GRANDCHILDREN, AGES 6 MOS TO 6 YRS LOVE THESE VIDEOS. I STARTED WITH BABY SMART, THEN BOUGHT THE CELEBRATION OF COLOR, AND THEN MICACLE OF MOZART. THEY HAVE KEPT ALL OF THE CHILDREN INTERESTED AT ALL TIMES. THEY ARE COLORFUL, EXCITING AND FUN TO WATCH. THE SUBJECT MATERIAL IS FASCINATING FOR THE WEE ONES AND EDUCATIONAL FOR THE OLDER CHILDREN. I WOULD DEFINETLY RECOMMEND THIS VIDEO AND PUT IT TOPS ON MY LIST. I ALWAYS LIKE TO GIVE THE SET AS A GIFT FOR A SHOWER OR NEW BABY GIFT.

Knows her numbers at 14 months? Yes!,

This review is from: Babyscapes: Baby's Smart - Mozart - Numbers [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This tape is very well put together and uses some excellent methods from early childhood education. First, it uses repetition which is one of the foundations for learning at any age. Second, it uses childrens' voices to repeat the numbers and shapes. Babies and young children tend to focus better on the voices of other children, rather than adults, because of the pitch and modulation of their voices. Third, it uses fun and upbeat music as the background for the video. This helps to retain the childs interest in what's going on on-screen. Last, but not least, the video images that have been chosen are colorful and fun to watch. There is alot of movement and activity on-screen to keep your child's attention and focus on what's being taught. My daughter received this video when she was 8 months old. She didn't show any real interest in it until she was around 11 months. By 12 months she could say one or two numbers (in the correct place) and now at 14 months she can say almost all of them. She's also shown a greater interest in the numbers around her as well (on her toy phone, or on the mailbox, for example). She really likes me to sit with her and repeat the names of the numbers along with the tape. The shapes she's not shown as great an interest in, but her interest seems to be growing with age. In all, I think this is an excellent video, both from an educational and entertainment perspective.

This is a miracle!!,

I have bought all the new tapes out for infants and the only ones she enjoys is the Babyscapes series. It is amazing. My 12 month old is counting with the kids voices on the Miracle of Mozart - Shapes & Numbers tape. When she hears the interlude music (which is the same on all three tapes) her face lights up. This is the series to invest in. The music is beautiful and the images are wonderful. I even enjoy watching them with her.

This video is Educational!,

I can't believe that my 12 month old knows her shapes and numbers and it is all because of this video. There are other tapes on the market that are entertaining, but this is the first video that has actually taught her something and entertained her. She can actually differentiate a square from a circle and she can point out her numbers from one to ten. I would recommend it to anyone who is more interested in TV that teaches versus just watching TV to watch TV.

Disappointing,

This video is overly simplistic and repetitive. The computer-generated graphics were bland and uninteresting. It didn't hold my 10-month-old son's attention for more than 5 seconds. If you're looking for a video that will stimulate your infant, I recommend Baby Mozart and Baby Bach instead.

Disappointing and Boring,

This review is from: Numbers & Shapes in Spanish [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I was terribly disappointed in this video. It was so boring that neither our 20 month old twins nor my husband and I could stand to watch all of it even one time. It does not use people, animals, or any real objects. Instead the numbers and shapes are computer generated images that fly through the air or appear like fireworks. For a child who does not yet know what numbers mean the video does not connect numbers to anything in real life. We also bought Bilingual Baby -- Spanish, which our children adore and which we can stand to watch and hear over and over.

A Joyless Experience,

This review is from: Babyscapes: Baby's Smart - Mozart - Numbers [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I bought this video for our 15-month old. He is moderately interested in it for about five minutes at a time. I on the other hand find it positively creepy. The repetitive chanting of the children's voices and the claustraphobic computer-generated imagery seem intended to put a child into a trance-like state. Well, at least that's the effect it has on me. There is none of the joy of visual experience so evident in the Baby Mozart series. Miracle of Mozart, "Numbers and Shapes" has nothing extraneous, nothing present simply for the delight of the eye. It's geared exclusively to stuffing numbers and shapes into the baby's head. I find this single-mindedness quite disturbing for a tape geared to infants. Is early success so important that we have to sacrifice fun ? Incidentally, it is extremely hard to imagine any child over 2 sitting through this video, even though the age range is 8 months to 5 years.

Love this Video!,

We received this video for my sons first birthday, and it is the best gift he got. My son knows all of his shapes and numbers and loves to watch it. I enjoy having an activity that we can do together. He really loves the kids voices. I just bought the ABC tape and he has started to call out the letters with the kids. I can't recommend it enough.

We are an English-speaking household but I try to provide a lot of Spanish exposure for my kids and this has been a great success. My two-year-old has already learned the number sequence and shouts out "dos!" before the "2" comes up. The graphics are very simple but he doesn't seem to care, and often digs this one out on his own and asks to see it. The background is classical music, so it's easy on the nerves for the grown-ups too. I frequently give this as a gift to expecting friends, along with Baby Einstein and/or Bilingual Baby Spanish.

Nice!,

This review is from: Babyscapes: Baby's Smart - Mozart - Numbers [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This Miracle of Mozart Numbers and Shapes along with the ABC video are among the best videos I have. If you never own other videos, at least own these two plus Leapfrog Letter Factory! I have collected NUMEROUS Number and ABC Videos (foster kids) over the past 20 years and have to say that I prefer these over ALL of the other videos except for the Leapfrog videos (but these are IMO a great start/foundation to use for letter recognition before they see Leapfrog Letter Factory). I began playing the videos for my own child at 9 months mostly because of the wonderful music. Between these Babyscapes videos and the Leapfrog Fridge Phonics toy, my child knew Numbers 1-10, and all of her ABC's AND their sounds at age 17 months. That is not to say that your child will (and it doesn't matter) but just to say that this is QUALITY television! I could have sat her in front of Elmo or Barney at these ages and she would have learned...what? She laughs at her ABC's and loves to say them! I hung ABC flash cards as a wall border in her room with poster putty. She looks at and points to her letters after I put her in bed. Later, from the living room, I can hear her calling out her letters (like counting sheep?)before she falls asleep! So cute! After kids learn all their letters, a great and fun video for learning letter sounds is Leapfrog Letter Factory and Leapfrog Word Factory (phonics!). I don't force early learning on my child; however, some opportunity/exposure is a good thing and I think most kids will show an interest in these videos if they aren't first overly-inoculated with hyper TV monsters like Elmo. How can kids be attentive and calm if their TV role models are bouncing off the walls? Get this video, play it, relax and enjoy. Don't damage your kids by "forcing" early education on your timetable. Give them some opportunity/exposure and have fun with it!
