5.0 out of 5 stars Best Babysitting Book Ever!!!
This book is so helpful! I say the reveiw "Sugar, Spice, and NOT Everything Nice," and I was dissapointed. I thought "We can not be talking about the same book!" This book is SO helpful. I used it when I first started babysitting and now everyone on my block asks me to babysit. This book shows how to change a baby, what do do in an emergency, what to do if you get scared...

2.0 out of 5 stars Sugar and Spice and NOT everything NICE
I bought this book with a gift certificate. Half of the information was helpful. Common questions that I had hoped to be anwsered, like how to feed an infant, how to bathe small children, and how to get a baby to fall asleep, (where just a few examples)where not anwsered.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Book!, May 10, 2003
A Kid's Review
This review is from: The Babysitter's Handbook: The Care and Keeping of Kids (Paperback)
This is a really great handbook with a lot of info. There are sections in the book on deciding whether or not you're ready, mealtime, bedtime, when kids get scared, games and activities to play with the kids, changing diapers, when kids say, "But my mom lets me!", and first-aid and safety tips. There are even business and info cards that you can punch out. I recommend this book with a good first-aid book and, of course, a babysitting course!

"The Babysitter's Handbook" is a very informative book for beginning babysitters who need to know some first aid, games to keep the kids entertained, and tricks to make them go to bed. Not only that, it explains (with pictures), how to change a baby's diaper, and get them to end their tantrums. It also features tips from young babysitter's like you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for my 11 year old niece, November 17, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Babysitter's Handbook: The Care and Keeping of Kids (Paperback)
I bought this for my 11 year old niece because we were going to be bringing home a baby and she wanted to start baby sitting. I feel 11 is too young to baby sit, but it is a perfect age to be a mother's helper. So she is studying and training and I think this will help her.

I gave 4 stars because this book is geared towards a younger girl, just breaking into child care but wouldn't be of much interest to older, established baby sitters. But it has good practical information and emphasizes responsibility.

5.0 out of 5 stars so helpful! A Teen's Review, January 30, 2007
This review is from: The Babysitter's Handbook: The Care and Keeping of Kids (Paperback)
I recieved this book from my wish list after I decided I wanted to start babysitting. This is probably the book you want if you want to start. I haven't even read through the whole book yet but from already reading just chapters in it, this book has really helped me feel ready and excited to babysit! Sometimes, if something didn't work out that day for babysitting, I'll take a look in this book, and check up on what they suggest for different types of situations. This book covers practically everything you'll need to know, from changing diapers, to babysitting more than one child at once. One chapter I like includes ideas and suggestions for activities for different age groups. The only thing it doesn't include is major emergencies and how you take care of them (besides calling 911). If you want to learn those types of things, then I would reccomend taking a class for babysitting. I have found this book extremely helpful!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars For older siblings and babysitters to be..., July 9, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've had this book in my own book collection for my kids and then when I taught a Babysitting class, I used excerpts in class. My students loved the way it was written. It's very succinct and contains the important information.

5.0 out of 5 stars American Girl does it again!, December 1, 2009
I'm 13 year old and I love this book. A full 63 page color book. With "Super Sitter Secrets!" It is useful and answered a lot of my questions. I have never babysat before (by myself as of December 1st) but there's a lot of useful information such as:

-CPR
-Sleeping
-Calming Children
-Changing Diapers
-Stop sibling rivalry
-And more!!!

Great for ages 11 and up.

BUT HOLD EVERYTHING!!

There was 1 con:
In the Babysitter's Buisness Kit, it features this book, business cards, activites, stickers and a lot more for only 2 MORE DOLLARS!

I recomend the Babysitter's Buisness Kit.
If you are looking for just the book, (But c'mon, only 2 more dollars!) buy the book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Keep the Age in Mind, February 5, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: The Babysitter's Handbook: The Care and Keeping of Kids (Paperback)
This is a well written beginning babysitters guide. My problem with it is that it is written for 9-12 year olds and many states require that babysitters be 13 years old and have a babysitting class. If you aren't sure about your state's requirements (or didn't realize they existed), call your local department of Family and Children's Services and ask them the home-alone and babysitting age requirements.
