Baccarat is Not Just Like Flipping a Coin,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Baccarat Battle Book (Paperback)
Scoblete shows clearly the complexities of baccarat. He discusses card counting systems, advantage play methods, and ways to reduce the casino commission on the bank bets. The book is great reading and never dull. If you play baccarat you should seriously consider getting this book.

I Discovered a Great Game,
By Jay Rheingold (Washington) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Baccarat Battle Book (Paperback)
I had never been interested in baccarat before but I am a Frank Scoblete fan so I bought this book. It was worth it. First of all, like all Scoblete's books that I have read, it is first rate. It is fun to read and just analyzes the game thoroughly. Scoblete shows why the traditional game of baccarat is much better than the mini version. He also explains how to really reduce what the house wins by maximizing comps and by using an ingenious strategy for reducing the commission on the Bank bet from 5 percent to 4 percent. I hve tried this strategy in five casinos and had success in two of them. Scoblete also analyzes over 40,000 decisions at baccarat and explains why these are very lose to the probability of what happens in the math. I wish I had better powers of writing because I know I am not doing this book justice. It turned me on to baccarat and I am loving every minute of it!

ok for beginers, not much advanced info,
By David Wang (Delaware) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Baccarat Battle Book (Paperback)
Frank Scoblete is (IMHO) one of the best gambling authors around, but this book of his falls short of the mark compared to his others. There's a lot of basic information but nothing really new for someone who is experienced at the game of baccarat already. In Scoblete's books on blackjack and craps, you get a feel for his passion and love for the games as well his vast knowledge drawn from years of experience as a player. In this book, however, I felt that he was writing about a game that he just plain didn't care about quite as much. There wasn't as much joy or thrill in his writing. I suspect that he isn't really all that enthusiastic a baccarat player, but that he wanted to crunch out a book on the game to help round out his coverage of all casino games. Note, for example, that he mentions in one place that he went out and played sessions of baccarat specifically as research for this book. In other words, the game isn't one he plays in the normal course of things. Overall, it's not a bad book for beginners, and if you like the style of his other books, you'll laos like this one. I guess that I've come to expect so much from his books, and this one fell just a bit short of my expectations.
