4.0 out of 5 stars Very useful to help you see what your embouchure looks like, March 10, 2009

This review is from: Bach 1825 Trombone Mouthpiece Visualizer
The key to good brass playing is the embouchure which refers to the shape of the lips and the aperture through which the air passes as well as the tension in the lips. A brass player must adjust his or her embouchure as they play different notes so that the lips can vibrate at the right frequency. But, when you play with a mouthpiece, you can't see what your lips look like. While you could buzz your lips without a mouthpiece and see them in a mirror, that doesn't really help since the lack of a mouthpiece prevents your lips from taking the same shape they would with the mouthpiece.

This visualizer for trombone solves this problem. Essentially, it's the rim of a mouthpiece on a stick. It lets you see what your lips would look like if your mouthpiece were transparent. Bach makes a similar visualizer for trumpet.

The only issues with this visualizer are that the stick doesn't have any handle which would make it easier to hold and that you can't buy it in different sizes to match the size of your mouthpiece. Even so, it is still quite useful and will help you improve your embouchure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mouthpiece Visualizer, February 24, 2008
This review is from: Bach 1825 Trombone Mouthpiece Visualizer
Every brass player that worries about their technique, or aumbershore problems or confusions, should own this product. Infact, every brass player should have one of these no matter what. There is so much one could cover with this one little object. Although this is a tenor-trombone mouthpiece visualizer that I'm showing, I know for a fact there are mouthpiece visualizers built for every type of brass intrument.
