i am not a major classical (or baroque) enthusiast, but i own seven versions of the brandenburgs. listen to this one on you tube. you'll find a lively but controlled pace, long sweeping notes on all of the stringed instruments, tempered brass, well timed harpsichord, and the MOST beautiful flutes i've heard on any recording. just buy it. you won't be disappointed. this is more energetic than the boston baroque recording but much less schizophrenic than the alessandrini recording. if i had the patience i would create a custom CD using all three.
