This is a stunning album! John Bayless does an amazing job of mixing the familiar, beloved songs of the Beatles with Bach's classical stylings. This is a wonderful CD that you're guaranteed to love! And don't miss out on the other album, Bach on Abbey Road! The same fantastic elements are just as spectacular on it.

Simple amazing! You listen and know the song but what is it? This is a pleasure to sit back and enjoy the differences of the centuries. And the similarities. You have to hear it to believe it.

I've had both John Bayless's 'Bach Meets the Beatles' and 'Bach on Abbey Road' for over 10 years now. Both CDs have always been among my favorites. John Bayless does an excellent job of presenting some of the most popular songs of The Beatles improvised as Johann Sebastian Bach might have. The arrangements are exquisite and genuinely like Bach with Beatles melodies mixed in. When playing the CD, some recognize the disguised Beatles melodies while others assume it's another Bach arrangement from the 17th century. Whatever the case, all have enjoyed the music. The Grand piano is the only featured instrument and is captured completely in the digital domain. The recordings are clear and free of distortion or hiss. It is evident that John Bayless is an exceptional classical pianist and composer. In short: Both John Bayless CDs are very enjoyable and masterful productions.

When one has as many albums as I do, one tends to forget the wealth of music possessed. As I was surveying my library, I came upon this gem, lovingly resting (amid some dust) in its perch among other titles.Boy, had I been missing soothing and passionately delivered interpretations of the sounds of "The Fab Four". The listener can envision the concert hall, packed with an appreciative audience, as the artist soulfully brings new life to both the Beatles and Bach. This is a recording that can be savored by those of the "high-" and "low-" brow persuasion. |
