Ordinarily I would shy away from reviewing Baroque music, and also from reviewing orchestral music, neither of which are in what I would consider my areas of expertise (opera and song). But i enthusiastically break my self imposed rules. This is a wonderful recording. I am no expert on organ music, but as I hear this recording I would say that Mr Hurford is master of the instrument. There is variety in the choice of stops and great rhythmic energy. The orchestral contribution is balanced nicely against the organ. And the music--wonderful, spiritual and life affirming. This recording is the window into organ music that I have been seeking. Terrific. Heartily recommended.
