This review is from: Bach 8311 Series Velcro Trumpet Valve Guard Black
I really wish I had known about these things about a year ago! My King 601's valves started losing the lacquer finish and I found these just in time! The King might have gotten even worse had I not found these sooner. I bought two of these guards, one for my King and the other for my Bach Model 37. I bought it for the King to enhance the look, (because I think trumpets with the guards look fancier) as well as hide the wear on the sides of the valves. I recently acquired the Bach so I bought one for this as well to preserve the silver plating and enhance the look. I really like how these say Vincent Bach on the side because it looks sharp on the Bach trumpet :) (not that it doesn't on the King, but it just doesn't have the same effect). The only two things I dislike about it is that it is cut somewhat weirdly compared to the ones I've seen on some of my friends' trumpets and that it has a little bit of glue on it from the packaging and it kinda sticks a bit to the instruments but those aren't a big deal. The stickiness is wearing off and the look, well it's not really too bad.Pros: 1. Improves grip on your trumpet 2. Protects valves from corrosion and chipping 3. Enhances the look of your instrument (In my opinion) Cons: 1. Cut a little weirdly compared to other grips (I wouldn't have mentioned this if it wasn't a Bach product. I kinda expected a bit better, but it's still a minor issue because this is still a 5-Star product) 2. It kinda sticks to the instrument a bit but that wears off after like 3 or 4 weeks. Verdict: If you want to keep your trumpet looking brand new and enhance its appearance a tiny bit, you should buy one of these. I'd recommend it more for people with silver trumpets because the "Vincent Bach" is printed in silver and it matches very well to the actual silver plating of a trumpet. And for $4, how can you beat it?!

I bought this for my new silver Stradivarious in September. I recently took it off to clean the trumpet-- and the valve guard had actually taken off some of the polish. It's barely noticble to the outside eye, but to me it's huge. The thing would always come off anyway, and it wouldn't stay on at all. I decided to just take it off and it's been amazing. The sound was clearer and rang stronger than with the valve guard. If you want to protect your trumpet, buy a cloth instead.

For one, the valve covor cant affect the tone quality! It's covoring the valves, the most it can affect the tone is making the tone better by reducing the vibration. You must just suck at the trumpet. It might fall off every once in a while but it only about [...] bucks so suck it up. Sorr you had a good playing day after u took it off, don't be stupid though.
