I don't know why I'm the only one who likes this move. Dark, brilliant zingers whiz by the audience's heads like darts in Raiders of the Lost Ark, and three flawed to the point of cruel main characters repeatedly get their asses handed to them until they consent to grow up. Who needs traditionally likable, anyway?

On the surface the movie is about three girls who are bridesmaids for one of their friends. The night before the wedding the bridesmaids mess up the bride's dress and have only hours to get it fixed before the wedding. While the movie is a comedy and has some really funny parts, it mostly has very serious undertones. One bridesmaid is a former bulimic and control freak and upset that her life is not on track, another bridesmaid struggles with drug addiction (coke) and her complicated relationship with an ex, and the last bridesmaid, who also abuses drugs and alcohol, is promiscuous to feel better about herself.

This movie is nothing like Bridesmaids which has a lighter tone and typical SNL humor. Bachelorette's humor is dark, raw and often sexually profane (may be offensive to some). The movie should have been given a different title so it would not be compared to Bridesmaids. They are nothing alike. It seems that the writer's were going more toward an American Pie/Get Him to the Greek type of humor.

On a positive note, the acting is good and all of the lead actresses give it their best with what they had to work with. I enjoyed it enough to be glad that I watched it. It is the type of movie that left me thinking, "wow, that could have been a really good movie with some changes in the writing and screenplay." The characters could have been developed better to make the audience care more about them and their plights. The real gem of this movie is that the characters are "real" girls with "real" problems that many audience members can relate to. The writers could have toned down the coke emphasis which seemed awkward and out of place in this movie...at least for all three main characters. Overall it was still entertaining and the cast made it worth watching.

I thought this would be a light funny movie and was prepared for something without a lot of substance, reinforcing dominant ideas of marriage, women, etc. But this was extreme. And not funny at all. The characters were so 1 dimensional. The women were worse than stereotypes. I don't know any women that would interact like this. The bride is basically ignored except when she is made fun of. The "control freak" character--who doesn't seem to have a job, not sure why--eventually sleeps with the self-centered, woman-hating guy. And the line that gets her into bed? I know what you want. You want to be put in your place!! Soooo, the fact that this guy thinks he's got you figured out and demeans you is really a turn on? The other two bridesmaids are obsessed with drugs and alcohol and using sex to get these things. I never laughed, even once, during this movie. What was the point? The girls seemed spoiled and pampered and wasting their lives and that was just so unrelatable. In contrast, Bridesmaids also played up stereotypes, reinforced dominant norms about marriage and women, etc. but it made me laugh. It was much more believable. This movie is depressing. And the way women get talked about and treated in this film; well, it made me sad for any women in the lives of the film's writers.

This is a really funny film. The three leads are hilarious and each is unique.
I loved that fact that this is one comedy that doesn't lose it's bite at the end.
The characters stayed true to themselves even as they are changed by their
surroundings. A triumph of indie comedy.

This was the first time I've ever purchased a pre-theatrical release on Amazon and I was hesitant about shelling out $10 bucks, but it was well worth it. I really disliked Bridesmaids and thought that the humor was uncouth, the characters weren't likeable or believable. Bachelorette is the opposite of that. I know 20somethings like these girls; girls who are struggling with the past & that affects their current lives, girls who are control freaks because they are unhappy. I could relate to this movie and I thought their hijinks were hilarious. Even their foul humor made sense in the context and wasn't being done just to gross you out. Basically, I'd recommend this movie to someone and I'm glad I purchased this pre-release.

This movie had such great potential. It features a powerhouse cast, including Kirsten Dunst, Rebel Wilson, Isla Fisher, and many other fairly well known actors/comedians. Sadly, the contents of the movie were more dismal than anything.

If I had to sum up this movie, I would say it is a combination of the Hangover and American Pie minus the laughs. A pack of girlfriends from high school are reunited when one of them is engaged to be married (Rebel Wilson). Most of the story centers around the hours, and events, leading up to the wedding.

The problems I had with this movie are many. First of all, Rebel Wilson, arguably the funniest of the bunch, is absent throughout roughly 90% of the movie. Maybe they should have had her switch roles with one of the other ladies and improvise a bit. Could have helped things ALOT! And I noticed they gave Horatio Sans a credit in the movie on the Amazon listing. He was in it for roughly a minute. It was much more a cameo than anything else.

They joke around about doing coke. I'm rarely ever a fan of a movie that shows people using hard drugs, especially when they do not show the repercussions of such actions. This movie pokes fun of it! Truly poor taste!

The three main characters are extremely flawed and do not learn from their behaviors. One is addicted to coke, one is a hardcore partier, and the third is a jealous type A personality with body issues. Despite all of their bad decisions and the horrible outcomes, at the end of the movie it isn't clear if any of them learned anything. The only one who might have learned something was the coke addict, but even this seemed unclear. To make matters worse, the hardcore partier almost dies from an overdose and they gloss over this fact. Seriously!?
