Bachmann G North Pole Special - This train is the largest mass-produced Christmas train you can buy. The Narrow Gauge 4-6-0 locomotive, which has a lighted headlight and a "choo-choo" sound, is a detailed model of a real Baldwin locomotive that was used in many parts of the country 100-140 years ago. The locomotive has two freight cars and a lighted passenger coach (so it's as much fun to watch running in the dark as it is with the lights on). This train is built solid enough to run in the rain and snow; many of these have been used on public display layouts that ran outside in rain or shine. It will look great around a Christmas Tree. In fact, you'll enjoy seeing your visitors' jaws drop when they see it running in your home.

I paid around 300.00 for my train, so excited to have such a beautiful piece of art traveling around an elegant tree. To my much dismay, it derailed as soon as it was up. Then, it derailed and derailed and so on. I put it up in my kitchen, where there is no carpet, and it runs perfectly. The problem, if you have soft carpet, this train is just too heavy, causing the track to sink in to far on the outside, which walks the track just enough to jump it. I've tried a few quick fixes, nothing works for very long. The only real way to keep it from jumping track is to build a ply wood runner under the track, and secure the track to it. But that is allot of work for a 300 dollar train set. Keep that in mind before buying it. If it ran, you probably couldn't do better.
