The Impossibles pull out an energetic ska, punk, rock, ep.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Back for the Attack (Audio CD)
The Impossibles have pulled out an explosive ep worthy of more praise than I can even begin to write here. Their fast ska rythms, and ultra-smooth vocals are unmatchable, while their punching distortion and belted lyrics are unstoppable. This is quite possibly one of the best EP's I've ever heard. One tasty treat on this disc, is a version of Widowmaker picked up with more gang vocals then you will find on "Back for The Attack". The pure energy of the catchy tunes on this track will make it a regular in your CD player. I HIGHLY recommend it.

the impossibles really hit that 97-98 ska sound with this 5 song ep. but its not that usual cookie cutter ska that we all have become so accustomed to. it has a different sound, with some harder, heavier moments, and some really catchy choruses. if you want a great, short cd that gives you a taste of what the impossibles really stood for before the year 2000, this ep is for you. there are some great songs that will definatly give your stereo a run for its money. the first song, Plan B, is possibly the best song that the Impossibles have ever written. actually, it could be one of the best ska songs to come out of that era. if youre a fan of the more recent material, such as songs from Return, or stuff after 2000, you probably wont like this, but its good to get to know where the band's true roots came from. either way, this ep is definatly worth your money, if your a fan of the impossibles, or just a fan of ska in general.

EPs can be hit or miss alot of times. From bands wanting experiment with new styles and themes all the way down to just piss poor recording quality and hastily thrown together songs, buying a release under 7 tracks can be an adventure that often leaves one thinking "thank god that didn't cost more than 5 dollars." The Impossibles however deliver a winner with "Back 4 the Attack!" With catchy lines, crystal clear vocals, and stunning harmonies, all layed over sharp musican ship and good recording quality, this EP is a jem in Fuled by Ramen's incredbly lackluster and dull cataloge of musical mediocrity. The EP, which lasts just over 10 minutes, Is catchy enough that it can stay in heavy rotation on your stereo for a week and not get tireing. If there is a weak track out of the five, its it probably "Face First!" or "frances" which are less rolicking and slower than the other three tracks. Both are still solid cuts, but they dont reach out and grab you like the others(except for the hook in "face first"). I personaly feel the strongest track is "Plan B." It stands out as the opening track on the CD, and definatly showcases the band's sound. If you enjoy ska-punk or pop punk, you need to shell out the money for this one. this band is not to be confused with Thee Impossibles.

i must say, i don't own this cd but i own anthology and it's just awesome. anthology is back for the attack and their self-titled album combined. it's a better deal, as far as money is concerned because you get 20 songs for the regular price. anyway, out of the 5 songs my favorites are plan b and widowmaker. they have a great ska sound. if you like the impossibles, check out their newer cd, return, and their latest EP, 4 song brick bomb.

Too great for words,

This band is by far the most enjoyable ska-punk ensemble in recent years. The solid guitar hooks, the catchy choruses, and the surprisingly pretty melodies in all of their songs are 100% kick @ss. Get both albums.

Great Weezer Ska,
This review is from: Back for the Attack (Audio CD)
These guys have been dubbed as Weezer ska by just about everyone I know. The reasons being are: A. The sing a lot about girls B. They have a nerd rock Weezer sound with ska riffs. I assure you that when you pop this cd in you'll think oh my god...its Weezer ska. THe album is solid with two different lead vocalists working on different songs. This is a nice buy for fans of ska or Weezer.
