Book Description

January 15, 2001
With her husband's dying breath, he promised to send Maddie an angle to heal her brokenheart. So every day in the year since Wayne's tragic boating accident, she's been watching for someone.

Rescued from a storm at sea, Chase can't remember who he is or where he came from--so he travels from port to port, looking for clues to his past. But his presence is shaking up the small Florida coastal town of Sugar Bay, and bizarre things are happening to Maddie and her family. Whoever this stranger is, he's working some serious miracles.

As Chase's shocking past and true identity begin to emerge, it leads Maddie to a disturbing mystery, unexpected danger--and the determination to fight for a love she know can only be Heaven-sent...

Review

"Wainscott delivers unusual and satisfying romance with a supernatural twist."--Publishers Weekly

From the Author

This book was such fun to write! Offbeat characters, family drama, self-discovery, mystery, and a touch of paranormal, this book has it all. Maddie took on a life of her own as I wrote her story, which is the ultimate achievement for a writer. If only they'd all cooperate so easily...

More About the Author

WHERE AM I? I'm now writing under the name Jaime Rush for Avon Books. Check out my new series, where X-Files meets Lost! Why did I change? I changed publishers and went back to my paranormal romance roots, and it was a business decision to start fresh. If you like my earlier paranormal books, you'll like the Offspring series. Lots of suspense, action, the kind of damaged characters I love to write about, and sexiness. You can read sneak peeks at www.jaimerush.com.

If you'd like to buy one of my books, and have it signed, please email me through the Jaime site. My manager has a limited amount of Tina Wainscott books on hand. For ebook users, I am releasing my Tina titles on the Kindle under both Tina Wainscott and Jaime Rush. Out so far:
Unforgivable
What She Doesn't Know
Blindsight (formerly Now You See Me)
Until I Die Again (formerly On the Way to Heaven)

Tina's Bio: I read suspense thrillers because I like to be scared, and I write suspense thrillers because I like to scare people. Not-entrails-on-the-floor or hacked-up-body-parts-wrapped-prettily-in-a-package type books. More like not being able to trust anyone, not even people you think you can trust type books. Books about psychological manipulation and psychotic baddies who enjoy the torment even more than the actual kill. Being scared is fun. Just ask any roller coaster or horror flick fanatic. Heck, just watching the evening news can be terrifying.

Pick up one of my books, though, and I'll guarantee you one thing: in my world, the bad guy always gets his in the end. Or the head. Or wherever it turns out to be. We don't always get the luxury of justice in real life, but every time I write a book, I get justice for all those people who couldn't. And I get to meet interesting people who I then put through hell, all in the name of entertainment. That is what I call a sweet way to make a living.

My beliefs are God, a positive attitude, living life to the fullest, doing unselfish things on a regular basis, small indulgences, believing in yourself, appreciating what you have, and no regrets.

5.0 out of 5 stars An inspiring romance, December 29, 2000
This review is from: Back in Baby's Arms (Mass Market Paperback)
Everyone in Sugar Bay on Florida's Gulf Coast refers to Maddie Schaeffer as "Baby" because of her sickly childhood. Even her spouse Wayne, who call his new boat "baby" tells her she is "the baby" while the craft is a "generic baby." However, when Wayne takes his new ship out for a test run, the steering wheel fails and he crashes. As he dies in Maddie's arms, he promises her that he will send her an angel because he vowed never to break her heart. She believes her beloved Wayne.

A year has passed and Maddie still expects an angel to appear. Her uncle hires a stranger, Chase, who was found drifting at sea with no memory or identification. Maddie believes that Wayne sent Chase as her angel, but though he cannot recall anything he knows he is no angel. Still, he finds himself attracted to Maddie and soon they join forces to try to learn who he truly is.

Though a bit more inspirational than readers normally receive from Tina Wainscott (see A TRICK OF THE LIGHT and IN A HEARTBEAT), BACK IN BABY'S ARMS retains the awesome author's ability to make the impossible seem feasible. The story line is taut, poignant, and exhilarating as two damaged psyches find healing in love. Ms. Wainscott provides her growing audience with another magnificent reading experience that is becoming the norm from this sensational superior storyteller.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice romance, but strange secondary characters., June 28, 2006

This review is from: Back in Baby's Arms (Mass Market Paperback)
I would actually give this 3 1/2 stars. The characters in Maddie's family were just goofy. I couldn't decide if it was the author's attempt at injecting humor or they were just strange. They reminded me of the movie "Junebug". It was distracting to me. I liked Chase. The mystery was pretty good, but the climax was a little over the top. Maddie's transformation was just too much too fast. Also, the whole plot of Chase being her 'angel' was more like a subplot. On the positive side, I could not put it down. I liked "Now I See You" a lot which was my first Tina Wainscott, so I will try another.
