My old grinder just gave up after many years of good service, so I needed a new one to replace it, looked all over the internet and most are very pricey, then I went to Amazon.com and searched, found this one and ordered it.

This item was purchased thru Amazon(no reflect on them). Teh item is not of good quality. Cutting blades (on first start up was making steel shavings(material not hard enough). It appears that things are not lined up properly. A PEICE OF JUNK. This item is the Model 4500 Electric Meat Grinder. Item was purchased in September 2011 abd never used(tried to use it today...

Cannot believe the quality for the price I paid, I have now used it weekly for months and am extremely satisfied with this appliance, I buy roasts and make my own extra lean burger to use and it goes through the process with no trouble at all, I would reccomend this machine to anyone , plus, you get all the extras that come with it, Super! includes, several size sausage stuffing tubes, and 3 different grinding discs, coarse, medium and fine, great buy!

Bought as a gift for a hunting enthusiast.so far has been used to grind up deer, elk and dove. (The dove burgers were excellent)Meat is ground fine and after the next hunt is try their hand at making deer sausage. It comes with a holder to stuff casings. Good product for the money spent. It is a bit noisy but then so was my Kitchen aid when grinding meat. They are pleased with the product.

5.0 out of 5 stars This grider works great for me, October 23, 2011

I have been using an antique hand meat-grinder that belonged to my mother that is satisfactory, but wanted to get an electric grinder because I have two deer to process and I'm not getting any younger so I could do without all the arm fatigue. Also I want to make some venison sausage, so I wanted a sausage attachment. I was put off by some of the reviews, but I wanted something inexpensive and I don't grind the most of the deer, and don't grind anything else, so I decided to try this one. I set it up right away following the directions and lubricating it as directed. It worked great. It is NOT fast and doesn't grind any faster than my old hand grinder, but so what? I don't get an arm-ache doing it. It also grinds much better than the old hand grinder which tends to get bound up with any connective tissue I didn't get cut out. It did an excellent job, and I am very pleased with it. Clean-up was a cinch. Rinsing it under the kitchen faucet removed all the meat residue very quickly, probably because I lubricated it with vegetable oil as directed. Later I washed it with dish soap. Users should remember that any meat allowed to dry on the metal is very difficult to remove, so rinse it immediately after using.

I hope the grinder holds up better than it has for some other reviewers, but so far it's great. Don't try to push the meat through faster than it can grind it up. Yes it is noisy, but no noisier than my food processor, and downright quiet compared to some of my husband's tools. I'm looking forward to making some sausage in the near future.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cheap but good grinder, October 5, 2011

Bought it new, most of it was put together already I plugged it in and put veggie oil in it and turned it on to see how good it worked but noticed it was making a strange noise so I took the end off and noticed there were a few metal shavings in the veggie oil and I got to looking at it the company that made it put the blade on backwards and was causing it to rub, All I had to do was flip the blade over.

But all in all its a dang good grinder make sure you clean it up real good before you use it though it is very dirty from making them I cleaned mine with a white towel and it was black after I got done with it do to the dust/oil when they cut the metal.

Works great. Took all of 1 min to figure out how to use and assemble. Been using a couple times a week now for a month to grind turkey breasts with no problems whatsoever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Making my own hamburger meat, January 8, 2012

This review is from: Back To Basics Meat Grinder Pro
After reading the book Fast Food Nation, I decided not to purchase any more hamburger meats from the supermarket. With this meat grinder, I purchase from market chuck roasts, chicken breasts, pork, veal, and/or lamb to make my own ground meats. With a vacuum sealer, I pack them in one-pound packages (some with combinations of different meats). I gave them to my children. We are much happier with the ground meats we eat now. This meat grinder is sturdy, and easy to clean. Most of all, it does not heat up for home use. I routinely grind 20 pounds of meat in a single setting with no problem. I strongly recommend it, and strongly recommend grinding your own hamburger.
