I'm 69 years old. I retired after 30 years in police work, and as a result of some tough assignments, I developed some pretty serious lower back pain. I have a fused cervical spine and some degenerating discs in L3-L4. I've been to chiropractors and back specialists, and am currently enrolled in the chronic pain management program through my HMO.

Yesterday I went with my daughters to the California State Fair and we were walking around the place looking at all the booths. After an hour or so, my back was killing me and I looked for a place to sit down. I happened to see this booth with some guy telling another guy about how this "Back Bubble" would relieve his back pain. The guy got in the device and immediately reported that there was relief. I didnt' believe it, so I hung around and waited for the gentleman named "Ron" to let me try the contraption. I couldn't believe that within ten or so seconds, my back pain was gone...I thought there was some mistake, or it was a fluke...so I told him my daughters and I would walk around for a while and see if the pain was really gone, or if this was a snake oil salesman's routine. (I actually planned on not going back) We walked around the fair for a while and the pain was actually gone!! I came back and found that another guy (turned out to be a fireman) was going thru the same routine and he couldn't believe the relief either....me being a cop and him a fireman and we both were pretty skeptical...but we both ended up buying one....and if there were ever two skeptics in one spot at the same time...that was it.

I brought it home and my daughters made dinner while I installed it in the doorway. One daughter has scoliosis (sp?) and some pretty serious back pain herself. She tried it out and it took her pain away too!

After having back surgery from a ruptured disk that caused me agony, my disk began to bulge again from lifting boxes (which it will often do, due to the fact that a diskectomy weakens the annulus which holds the disk) and my pain began to come back almost as if I'd never had surgery. I was afraid, as I really didn't want to go through everything I went through before, including being bedridden with pain. Oh brother. What to do, what to do... Then I had this product recommended to me by my chiropractor.
I wouldn't say the Back Bubble provides immediate relief, nor I doubt would the manufacturer. If used properly, however, over time it CAN in some cases reverse the condition. The principle is that it provides traction, creating a vacuum between the vertebrae which "sucks" the disk back into place. This requires regular (twice-daily) use for a period of time. This is similar to KDM (kinetic decompression method) that's done on the big machines in doctor's offices. When undergoing KDM, the patient must come into the office 3x/week for 20 weeks or more. This is highly inconvenient to do around work, family, and inclement weather, not to mention the cost incurred. Using the Back Bubble does essentially the same thing, but can be done in the privacy and convenience of the home, on your own schedule. And, of course, is way cheaper.
It does take time to properly fix your back. There are no "instant" solutions unless you count surgery, and you're lucky enough to have a successful one, which many people don't. The good news is, you can get in positions with this thing in which you can read or watch TV, and the sessions can be very short, like ten minutes or so. All in all, I think this is really worth trying for anyone with herniated disk problems. It helped me!

I suffered from back pain that over the years turned very severe. I tried drugs, therapy, massage, injections etc., which all worked to some degree, but your body can only handle so much of that. As I felt myself too young for surgery which in my case would involve a fusion of the lower back with rods and screws, I began to look for a less evasive way to treat my symptoms. Well....I'll be darned if it didn't work. I found that by laying on my back with my hips suspended off the floor I could "scooch" the bubble down my hips slowly to just the right spot that would provide an instant relief of pressure off the nerve. Five to ten minutes of this and I felt like a new man. It was a Godsend! It of course didn't solve the problem but it went a long way in making my condition more manageable and it sure beat doing the drugs to help relieve the pain.

I started using this after hurting my back.

As you can see in the picture, it's basically a half circle of inner tube that you hang from a doorway. You get inside of it and bend your knees or lean forward a bit to gently, slowly (and carefully!) stretch the spine since it is supporting the weight of your upper body.

I used to have an inversion table but there is no way I would even attempt to get on one of those when my back was that painful. It's way more expensive than the inversion tables-- about 3 times as much-- but then again when you are in that much pain what wouldn't you pay for some relief? Also I think the inversion table does a better job of stretching the spine than the Back Bubble does but of course only if you can actually use it.

One other thing that's nice about this Back Bubble is it can easily be stored away-- especially if you use a strong hook in the doorway rather than the bar that ships with it. If you get a heavy duty hook (doesn't come with it) and hang it from that then it can easily be removed so it doesn't obstruct the doorway. If you install it on the bar you have to pop the bar out of the hardware that's attached to the door frame and then slide it off the bar (the bar and the hardware is what ships with it for installation).

The other thing that helped me tremendously is a heavy duty back brace (Mueller) that I also bought on amazon.
