Editorial Reviews

For The Fallen Dreams are from the blue collar town of Saginaw. Their humble upbringings and old fashioned work ethic shows in the music they play. FTFD spent 2 years bringing their highly energetic shows, of stage dives and pile ups, to every corner of the country. They've shared the stage with A Day To Remember, Emmure, Acacia Strain and more. Whether they're playing a sold out 1,000 capacity venue or an oversold VFW hall with 500 kids, FTFD plan to continue their goal of world domination by treating every fan like their first and playing every show like it's their last.

For the Fallen Dreams returns with their new third, full length record "Back Burner." Having been a versed listener in their past work, "Changes" and "Relentless", I am pleased to say that this is their strongest effort yet. Rise Records seems to be one of the few record labels to act as a "sponge." Granted FTFD have been with them for the past 2 records, Back Burner only strengthens the diversity of Rise Records. Within the past 2 years, Rise has bullstered their label with a firm roaster of bands that truly stand out amongst some of the other labels. They are not afraid to take chances and give bands the "push" they need. Anyways, onto Back Burner...

The previous two FTFD records were certainly packed with destructive tracks that left my ears/ jaw on the ground, however, I feel they were lacking in areas where "BAck Burner" strongly succeeds; continuity. Here we are given twelve tracks that, if listened to as "stand alone tracks" would be anthems with specific themes. Although, the album does follow a "Scream, sing, scream, sing" formula, the songs are nothing short of impactful. After numerous listens, "back Burner's" strengths broke through and became one of the more enjoyable records I have purchased in 2011. Dylan RIchter's pulse-pounding, head-thrashing vocals breathe life into each of the tracks. The major difference on Back Burner are the abundant clean vox on the album. More often then not, Dylan shows more versatality than ever before. I will say that where Back Burner substantially prevails, is the guitars. Kalan Blehm and Jim Hocking evoke gripping melodies and powerful riffs to make even the most biased critic find something unique. Walking away from the album for the first few times, i would say to myself "Man, they killed that last song.

I never was a fan of For The Fallen Dreams Til I watched their music video "The Big Empty" and they just amazed me. I'm a fan of there old vocalist Dylan. Now they have released their newest album with their original vocalist chad and it's okay I just like Dylan Richter as a vocalist better....This album back burner is amazing....a must buy if your a metalcore fan!

I like this album a lot. This FTFD sounds like a completely different band than the FTFD that wrote Relentless and Changes, but it's still good, just for different reasons than their previous albums.

The music video for the song "The Big Empty" is why I bought this physical cd. I had purchased their other record "Changes" with a different vocalist at the time. I liked that 1st release "Changes" for like some days cause I only liked a couple few songs on it, so I decided to sell it. At least I saved it on my computer before selling it back phew! because looking back now it doesn't sound anywhere as bad as I thought it was. Their 2nd release had their new vocalist the same as in "Backburner". I heard some songs and it was sounding better but not as good as what they would release for their upcoming 3rd album release. "Backburner" is definetely a top pick in my list of music bands. The cd as a whole is killer! If you like bands in variety of: GREELEY ESTATES cds "No Rain, No Rainbow",and "The Death of Greeley Estates", MOTIONLESS IN WHITE cd "Creatures", BLESS THE FALL cds "Witness",and "Awakening" THE WORD ALIVE cd "Deceiver", MISS MAY I cds "Apologies Are for the Weak", "Monuments", THE CRIMSON ARMADA cd "Conviction", BLIND WITNESS cds "Blind Witness self-titled" (I think it was their first release), "Nightmare on Providence St. (2nd release)" then give this band a listen and check the other bands as well if you haven't!
