Having followed the Rippingtons for years any offshoots are greatly appreciated. This album is no exception. Jeff continues to produce great albums. His songs and musicianship are second to none. In an era of many good saxophonists Jeff continues to shine, plus he's Great live!! I highly recommend this album

Jeff Kashiwa--Still riding high,
This review is from: Back in the Day (Audio CD)
Saxman Jeff Kashiwa has been riding the high tide since his emergence on the scene some 20 years ago as the main horn man for Russ Freeman's supergroup, The Rippingtons. He would exit the group some 10 years later to embark upon a lucrative solo career that just seems to get better with each release. His feel, energy, and intensity have always been quite something of serious note in identifying Kashiwa, and Back In the Day exclaims that loud and clear. -- Ronald Jackson, [...]

I was pleasantly surprised by the latest offering by Jeff Kashiwa and I was very impressed with his latest project. This album is funkier than an unwashed armpit and you'll love every cut. A definite must have and must listen for anyone. He's come a long way from his days with the Rippingtons and an album like this shows his versatility as well as going back to his roots.

A Listening Pleasure!,

This is going to be the 'must have' CD for 2009. All of the tracks are a pleasure to listen to, several should get much air play. Track #5 was a bit of a bump in the road, but he gets it going again with "Meet You There" and my favorite "The Attraction". A great CD to ride to or just to chill to. Very nice CD, a must have, buy it, you won't be disappointed! Stay smooth...dlm

A very near perfect album by Mr.Kashiwa, only let down by track 5 which happens to be the only vocal cut. This is the album to beat in 2009. Tracks 1,2, are just wonderful , but its the latter half , tracks 6-10 where Jeff truly comes into character. If you liked 'Another Door Opens' then you will love this.
