Solid album. "Rise" will be stuck in your head for a few weeks. Rest of the tracks are hit or miss.

Back Flipping Forward I heard it on C.S.I. New York. I immediately rushed to my computer and ordered it. It is very laid back music and soothing to the soul. I suggest if you like blues or folk, you will like this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Album, October 18, 2007
Every song is great! One of the best albums I have bought in a really long time. I can't stop listening. Some of my favorite tracks are "Rise," "Bi Polar Baby" and "Boom Boom."

5.0 out of 5 stars all around excellent, October 3, 2006
This review is from: Back Flipping Forward (Audio CD)
This is an incredible album. From someone who has a background in music AND someone who just enjoys listening to it, this CD is just one hit after another. On top of being a joy to listen to, with every song pretty catchy as hell, each and every song is full to the brim with soulful lyrics and poetic lines that simply blow my mind. Will Dailey is an incredibly talented artist in both composition and lyricism and I would recommend this album to anyone.

The indie/alternative/folk genre is normally not my thing, but a good friend of Will's passed this CD along to me. No matter what your musical taste, you'll find that Will's vocals are outstanding, and there are many finely turned poetic lines in his lyrics. One of the standout cuts, "Hollywood Hills", is so hooky it'll take up permanent residence is your consciousness (REALLY). Its jaunty early-jazz musical treatment is so authentic you half expect Jean Harlow to come gliding into the room at any moment. The only risk the song runs is coming across like somewhat of a novelty number, which undercuts the strong message of its lyrics.

In "Bipolar Baby" Will's vocal does full justice to the subject matter. "Undone" seems a bit superficial and overblown - literally. To my ear, horns are a bit much for this sort of album, but I'll bet the tune has always been great when he performs it live. I like the more soulful "Rise", in which Will goes in the direction of southern rock with a subtle gospel influence. And, in my opinion, the best cut on the album is "Yesterday's Gone". Again - soulful. It's a lovely, melancholy tune that builds nicely to an expressive ending (kudos to the background vocalist on this one).

Now for a couple of small negatives. Much of the time, Will sounds an awful lot like Jeff Buckley, which can become tiresome. And, though it may be a bit of indie chic to include a low-budget effort like "Dear Grace" (produced by Will and recorded in a closet, according to the CD credits), the fact remains that it's immature and not up to the standards of the rest of the album. It's a disappointing finish.

Overall, though, I would recommend this CD to anyone who enjoys the indie/alternative/folk genre.

4.0 out of 5 stars Flipping for Dailey, March 20, 2009
This review is from: Back Flipping Forward (Audio CD)
I had read that Roger McGuinn made a guest appearance on Will Dailey's
"Peace of Mind" song. Being a huge McGuinn follower, I played the sample cut on Dailey's website and loved it.
As a result, I decided to take a chance on "Back Flipping Forward".
At first, I found it to be just ok, however, the more I played it, the better it sounded.
Bottom line............Dailey is a young musician/songwriter/vocalist with much talent. I really like his versatile songwriting and voice.
Bought it at a great price via Amazon and it was well worth it.
This cd is a "buy", in my book, and am looking forward to his next release.

Will Dailey was singing on a show I was watching. I was not really into the show, but once I heard him sing, I was hooked. His voice is captivating. I love listening to this album. It is totally relaxing and soothing. By far, the best album I have purchased in a long while.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Songs, Great Lyrics can't go wrong, December 20, 2007

I've been listening to Will Dailey for a while and "Goodbyeredbullet" is one of my favorite indie albums of all time. This is a tremendous follow up. This is the kind of album where each day you have a new favorite song. The influence seems to come from all over the place. "Eliza" reminds me of the Dead and "undone" reminds me of The Band & the Stones. "Boom Boom" & "hollywood Hills" are unforgettable and hypnotic. Melodic and lyrical triumphs. I even like the sparse "Dear Grace" that closes the album. The artwork also reflects the depth that this collection of songs has. They stand on their own live as well as on CD. It is hard to tell which album to start with if you are just introduced to this artist but I don't think you could go wrong either way. Can't wait for what is next...
