5.0 out of 5 stars Vanilla Ice is an American Institution
Vanilla Ice is the most ingenious musician of our century. He has influenced modern musical geniuses such as Radiohead, creed, Nirvana, and Smashing Pumpkins. The Poetic lyrics blend perfectly with hot fudge beats to make the perfect VANILLA ICE-cream sundae. And who can forget the ingenious lyrics like "cooking MCs like a pound of bacon?" It is sublime.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wack to Wack hits.
Actually, this is perfect for the person, like me, who can't bring themselves to own an entire disc from these two, but wants the hits of theirs. The first 5 tracks are from "M.C. Hammer", and the next 5 from "Vanilla Ice". So this includes "U Can't Touch This", "Too Legit To Quit", "Pray", and of course "Ice Ice...

Remember the 90's? Remember The Simpsons, rap music, and the Internet? I know I do. And if you remember rap from the 90's, you undoubtedly remember these two artists: Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer.

Once on top of the world (and Billboard charts), Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer are now fodder for countless "Where are they now?" shows. Furthermore, they are endlessly mocked for their lightweight entries into the rap genre. However easy it may be to mock them, it is even easier to forget their true contributions: namely, bringing rap music into the mainstream. No matter how much is made of, say, Public Enemy's surprising cross-over appeal, one must concede that mainstream popular music still considered rap as an alien entity. That is, until Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer brought their own brand of watered-down, whitewashed pablum to the stage.

So, sit back and enjoy the greatest hits of these two ex pop sensations, whether for their historical significance, kitsch value, or just plain fun.

4.0 out of 5 stars My God, what a great idea!, February 16, 1999

When I saw this CD in the bins, I shook with excitement. How can you go wrong with the two greatest cheese-rappers ever? You can't, that's how. The Hammer section is solid gold, with every essential song he ever did (all five...) If you have this, you never need to buy another Hammer disc. It's got everything you need off both albums, and his contribution to the Addams Family soundtrack, so there you go. The Vanilla section isn't quite as good, though. It has Ice, Ice, Baby, of course, but nothing else off To The Extreme. Which is alright, in a way, since everyone still has their old cassette of To The Extreme somewhere (don't deny it), and this way, you also get Cool As Ice (his attempt at a follow up, which actually sounds alot like that other pinnacle of turn-of-the-decade rap, C+C Music Factory)) and some really amusing stuff from Extremely Live, so between To The Extreme and this, you have a consumerate Ice collection. Except for Hard To Swallow, of course, which I haven't heard, except for the rap-metal rerecording of Ice, Ice, Baby; Too Cold.

5.0 out of 5 stars off the HEEZEE, March 3, 2003

This is as good as that movie Friday the 13th Part 19. Have you seen it? Well, take my word for it. Two of the best rappers to ever rip a mic appear on the same disc. I bump this masterpiece on the way to my job at Burger King every morning. Yo, go get it.

Cheesy as it is, this CD is a must-have for any fan of 90's music. Hammer and the Iceman were a couple of flamouts, but you gotta give them credit for the few hits that they had. Here's to more cheesy beats that everybody knows the words to!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Great Baby; Can't Touch It!, October 18, 1998

Ahhhhh, what a dream come true. Vanilla Ice and Hammer on one CD. This is the best joining of the forces since peanut butter got together with jelly. Imagine two of the biggest "where are they now?" flameouts on the same CD. Most of these tracks are from the glorious music year of 1990 when the wall was still up, stocks were down, and a young and rebellious Luther Campbell was banned in the U.S.A. What memories. The only thing keeping this from being five stars is the exclusion of Milli Vanilli. That would have been awesome. A trifecta of 90's has-beens.....although technically Vanilla Ice was a "never was" but it still would have been the best trio since Jack, Janet, and Chrissy. A must buy!!!!!!
