5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Gaithers, December 29, 2001

This review is from: Back Home in Indiana [VHS] (VHS Tape)
The gaither video back home in indiana is there best video ever. The biggest reason I like it is because it has John Peirce in it and as big fans will know he left the vocal band. I dont know why so if someone can get back to me on why i would appreciate it. The video is filled with wonderful songs and as usual everyone in the band is singing from the heart. Thanx

4.0 out of 5 stars Hometown Extravaganza - Bill Gaither Vocal Band Minister in Concert to Sold Out Audience in Anderson Indiana, November 12, 2011

This review is from: Back Home in Indiana [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Filmed and Recorded at the newly renovated Historic Paramount Theater in Anderson, Indiana this video is a favorite of many of the fans of the Gaither Vocal Band. In addition to the Vocal Band the program includes performances by Gospel Music favorites Jake Hess, Hovie Lister, Candy Hemphill Christmas, Amy Lambert, Jessy Dixon, Terry Mc Millan, Anthony Burger, and the Christ Church Choir.

This video goes back to 1997 and includes many of my longtime favorite numbers. I especially enjoyed "Daystar," Jake Hess' singing, "When He Was on the Cross I Was on His Mind," Jessy Dixon's "Joy Comes in the Morning," and "I Believe in a Hill Called Mount Calvary."

The audience always enjoys Mark Lowry's clowning. I appreciate the humor included in most of the Homecoming videos but sometimes find the "one liners" repetitious and overdone.

The testimonies from the Vocal Band member s add another dimension to a full concert of worship, inspiration, and entertainment.

5.0 out of 5 stars A SUPER VIDEO!, July 18, 2002

I AGREE WITH THE OTHER REVIEWER(JESS FROM MARYLAND)THAT THIS IS THE BEST VIDEO AND CD EVER. I'VE SEEN HUNDREDS AND SO FAR I HAVEN'T SEEN NOT 1 TO MATCH "BACK HOME IN INDIANA". THE SONGS AND MUSIC IS FIRST CLASS. BILL GAITHER IS A MASTER AT SELECTING SONGS AND MAKING A VIDEO. I ALSO AGREE WITH (JESS FROM MARYLAND) THAT JONATHAN PIERCE IS UNMATCHED ANYWHERE IN VOCAL ABILITY AND PRESENCE ON STAGE. THE 4 VOICES ARE A GREAT MATCH AND HARMONY EXCELLENT. I DON'T LIKE THE NEW TENOR AS WELL. HE'S TOO LOUD ON EVERY SONG, HARMONY NOT AS GOOD. (JESS FROM MARYLAND) WONDERED WHAT HAPPENED TO JONATHAN PIERCE. I HAVE HEARD THAT HE WAS FORCED TO RESIGN SO DAVID PHELPS COULD TAKE HIS PLACE. THE VIDEO AND CD ARE THE BEST, SO I RECOMMEND EVERYONE BUY THEM!
